Wakis Foods in Abuja offers a refreshing culinary experience, seamlessly blending Nigerian and continental cuisines. Located in a serene part of the city, it stands out not just for its food but for its natural wooden ambiance, which creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor is thoughtfully designed, featuring rustic wooden tables and chairs that exude a charming, earthy vibe. The subtle use of plants and soft lighting enhances this natural aesthetic, making it an ideal spot for both casual dining and special occasions.

The menu at Wakis Foods is diverse and caters to a variety of palates. Signature dishes like jollof rice, suya, and egusi soup are prepared with a modern twist, ensuring they are both familiar and innovative. The quality of ingredients is evident in each dish, with fresh, locally sourced produce playing a starring role.

Service at Wakis Foods is commendable. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable, ready to provide recommendations, and accommodate special dietary needs. Despite its popularity, the restaurant maintains a cozy, unhurried atmosphere, allowing diners to fully relax and enjoy their meals.

Overall, Wakis Foods offers an excellent dining experience in Abuja. Wakkis is an Indian fusion restaurant. The aesthetics and decor is very earthy and wooden structured. It's very homey, has a very African vibe to it and well organized. There are wooden benches and tables for sitting and eating, stylishly placed art and a wooden fire pit for BBQ that is right in the middle of the ground floor of the restaurant. It has a higher floor that oversees the ground floor. While there I did notice the presence of quite a few foreign nationals.

The food is average to high end priced with basic things like naan starting from 1,500 naira to things like prawn dishes charging as high as 7 - 8,000 naira. A lot of their mains come with complimentary sides which is good.

The service was slow which was surprising as I went there on a Sunday and they were out of a lot of things we asked for which was stated on their menu.

We waited for our food for about 30 - 45 mins. And there was no complimentary snacks until we had to demand for something (and were given groundnuts, que eye roll). The food was pretty decent I would say, definitely a different experience taste wise. I don't quite think they quite got the Indian essence of the meals but then again I've never been to India or had Indian food before. But you should definitely try their prawn in curry sauce if you do visit.

It's a decent restaurant overall. A few improvements are needed here and there.

They also do some weird service charges, so observe your bills...

Horrible service and attitude. OK food. The waiter informed us after seating us that the POS system was not working and they will accept only cash. We found an ATM and came back with cash. After really really slow service they bought edible food. Not good, just OK. After eating, I chased down the waiter and requested 2 separate bills for us (we were 2 guys and company pays for all this so we needed separate bills). The waiter got nasty and told us we did not tell him when placing the order so he will not change it now. I did not want to argue so I hunted down the manager, Julius and asked him to resolve. Right away this guy starts to blame us for not telling them initially. I told him why did not you ask. He says not their job. And how the owner is out of country and it is not permitted and blah blah blah and excuses without realizing that their internal mismanagement is not customers problem. Typical anti customer Nigerian attitude of the manager and staff. This place is run like a bureaucracy and not a private business and maddeningly slow. Spend your money somewhere else where they want...
