Ambience
The cafe is so cute and cozy. It has large windows which really adds to the lighting of the place, the cafe is mostly pink so its hard to not admire every inch of it. My favourite part was the pink little spot by the window and the coffee tree mural on the wall. I like that particular spot because it gives you a view of the window and its quite secluded and comfortable. The place is quite small and can barely sit up to 30 people at once so its best for take outs, lunch breaks or a quick bite.
The menu
For a small cafe their menu is quite big. Normally most cafes this size sell only pastries, but pink bear is different. The have a variety of options on their menu. They have salads, pasta, pancakes, pastries, sandwiches and more. For their drinks, they have water, different types of teas, including bubble tea. Interestingly, they also have alcoholic bubble tea. The food
I didn’t try out any savory dishes, i just went straight to the pastries pastries displayed because it just felt right at the time. I ordered a cinnamon roll, red velvet cake slice and a chocolate cake slice.
Red velvet cake slice – N1,700
Typically, i’m not a huge fan of red velvet cake. Its really nice and i enjoy it, but its not always my first pick. Something about this cake slice was calling my name and i had to get it. Well, it turned out to be one of the best red velvet cake slices I’ve ever had! It was so creamy, moist and rich. I honestly never knew red velvet cake could taste so good. I loved it.
Chocolate cake slice – N1,500 Chocolate flavored anything would always have a space in my heart. This was no different. It was very fudgey, moist and really really chocolatey. The best part about it was that the chocolate cake was that it was really yummy and it didn’t have a lot of sugar in it.
Cinamon roll – N900 The cinnamon roll was actually the first thing to catch my attention. It was quite small, but really really nice. Definitely one of the best i’ve had.
Drink
I wasn’t really in the mood for bubble tea so i decided to try the caramel milk tea.
Caramel milk tea (small – N2,400) The caramel milk tea was too sweet. It wasn’t really creamy and i could barely taste the caramel in it. I didn’t really enjoy...
Read morePink Bear is an all day breakfast restaurant that is best known for its bubble teas. I stopped by to try out their Boba as well as some of their food options. A fun fact is they also offer alcoholic bubble tea.
I had the Passion Fruit + Peach Bubble tea with strawberry bursting boba, Vanilla-Taro Blend with tapioca pearls and Coco-Tang Blend with mango jelly topping. Their bubble teas are some of the best I've tried so far in Abuja.
The Passion fruit + Peach was absolutely delicious and very refreshing. It had a rich peachy flavour and I also loved how the strawberry boba delightfully bursts in my mouth and released another layer of strawberry flavour. However, the flavour of the passion fruit was numbed down. This was NGN2800.
The Vanilla-Taro Blend was frozen, thick and very creamy with subtle vanilla flavour and the unique taste of taro. This tea was quite interesting and unique since this was my first time trying Taro. The texture of pearls was also spot on. This was NGN3500.
The Coco-Tang Blend is definitely for people that love tropical vibes. It was a mix of mango and coconut topped with a sweet mango jelly. It was also nicely thick and frozen. This was NGN3500.
For food, I had a stack of pancakes with fruit & strawberry sauce, an omelette and their spicy beef wrap. The pancakes were lovely and thick. The omelette was a classic filled with veggies and also well-seasoned.
My favourite thing was easily the spicy beef wrap which delivered entirely in terms of flavour. This wrap was served with fries. This...
Read moreMy experience was generally fine until the very end. I stopped by for brunch in between appointments in the neighbouring plaza’s (hair, nails etc). I found my meal fairly priced. I opted to pay with cash which were a mix of 500 and 1000 notes old and new. I wasn’t offered change but I wasn’t bothered. As I was making my way my next appointment next door I was chased down by the waiting saying their accountant hadn’t verified my payment. Which was confusing as I paid cash. That usually happens with transfers that haven’t yet dropped. I asked if I had underpaid. I was in a work meeting as I counted the so I didn’t doubt I may have made a mistake, he said no. I followed me back to the restaurant where their accountants proceeded to tell me in front of the other patrons that she is not familiar with the notes I paid with. I asked if they didn’t collect old notes - which would be odd because they have been declared legal tender since the attempt to introduce new notes into circulation. She clarified that they did but she didn’t recognised the notes I paid with. I decided to pay with alternative notes and hurry to my next appointment which I was becoming late for. The whole experience was perplexing and left a bad taste for an otherwise okay experience . I’ve attached photos of one of the notes in question with a photo I googled to compare as admittedly I’m not in the habit of inspecting mint bank notes and if there is something wrong I would need to take it up with the dispensing bank...
