Pros|- Spacious apartments with outdoor deck|- Free bfast if included in your rate|- Restaurant with an outdoor deck|- Free, small parking lot on-site|Cons|- No AC in the units with a very small window in the bedroom|- Must pay for extra towels|- Poor shower buildout|- No housekeeping ||This is a 2-star hotel labeled as a 3 star hotel. The check in process is simple as everything is already prepaid. You can either get a room on the 2nd floor or on the 1st floor. For 1st floor units, you walk past the back of the kitchen to get to the units. These have a living room and deck in the front and the bedroom in the back. That’s important to understand b/c the 2 x 2 window in the bedroom faces the back walkway by the kitchen. This means that you will barely get any airflow and likely get all the smells from the kitchen. ||Each apartment has a spacious living room and a kitchenette if you wanted to cook your own food. Note, there are multiple signs stating you will be fined if dishes are left unwashed. However, the signs are confusing as the same sign has different price on it (one is for $200 and another for $250). There is also furniture on the deck if you wanted to sit outside, right on the marina. ||The bathroom is spacious, but the shower is small. It looks like the shower was added after the initial build out. The door of the shower does not close all the way, which can result in water splashing out a bit. ||Our biggest complaint, however, was that when we went to ask for couple additional towels, we were told that a hand towel is $6/day and regular towel is $12/day. Considering the room rate you are paying at the hotel and that it is labeled as 3-star, we were floored that they would charge for extra towels. It’s not like we were trying to sneak them out, we just needed an extra towel for my wife to use on the pillow due to allergens and her allergies. ||The hotel does have a nice restaurant on the patio, overlooking the marina. We did not dine there as their vegetarian options were limited. Their morning breakfast was also limited, catered towards meat but they did give us some fruit from the kitchen when we asked if we could have a banana. ||Unfortunately, if you are spending time in Flam, there’s no luxury option – all the hotels are outdated and overly priced. However, the other hotels do have AC and free towels, unlike...

Read moreWe stayed at Flåm Marina & Apartments for one night as part of our DIY Norway in a Nutshell tour, and I’m so glad I stumbled across this property during my research—it doesn’t always show up right away when searching for accommodations in Flåm, but it absolutely should.||I truly can’t think of a better place to stay in Flåm. The location is just far enough away from the main tourist hub (where the cruise ships dock and crowds gather), yet it’s an easy 10-minute walk to everything. The setting is peaceful, quiet, and the views are simply stunning. Sitting out on the patio looking at the fjord was one of the highlights of our entire trip—just breathtaking.||The property is small and intimate, which adds to the charm. Because of that, availability is limited, especially during the busy season. I booked six months in advance, and I would recommend the same if you plan to stay during peak times.||Our room was simple but clean, with a double bed, a mini dorm-size refrigerator, and a small bathroom. It was perfectly adequate for our needs, especially considering that the real draw here is the incredible setting.||Breakfast was a basic European breakfast buffet—not particularly memorable, but it got the job done. We didn’t have a chance to try lunch or dinner at the on-site restaurant, although based on other reviews people seem to enjoy the food.||All in all, Flåm Marina & Apartments is about the view and the tranquility. If you're visiting Flåm, I wouldn’t stay...
