We stopped at Flåmstova Restaurant on a picture-perfect afternoon in Flåm. The sun was out, the sky was clear, and the whole valley looked unreal—especially with the light catching on the hills behind the houses. It felt like the right kind of place to sit outside, slow down, and take in the view. The setting alone is hard to beat.
We ordered the fish and chips, which turned out to be one of the better versions we’ve had anywhere. Perfectly fried, not greasy, and the fish was flaky with great flavor. The batter had a solid crunch without being too thick. Portions were generous without feeling heavy, and the side sauces were a nice touch.
What really stood out, though, was the beer. They brew their own on site, and the house pilsner was crisp, cold, and exactly what we wanted on a warm day after a few hours of walking around. You could easily come here just for a beer and the view.
Service was relaxed but attentive. No rush, no attitude—just friendly people who seem to know the scenery is doing half the work for them. If you’re in Flåm, this is a stop...
Read moreMy partner and I enjoyed a great dinner at Flåmstova on our first evening in town.
I got the vegan risotto dish - it was great! Very filling and awesome to see a vegan option in such a small town. My husband, however, got the goat and spent the entire dinner talking about how phenomenal it was. We have been all over Europe and he said it was the top meal of the trip. The vegan chocolate mousse dessert was very good - definitely order that!
Our server, Alan, was a total joy. He was very personable and brought a positive energy to the restaurant. Alan suggested beers to pair with our food, and answered some questions conversationally about Norway and Norwegian culture. He was great to talk to, and his optimism and happiness radiate!
Definitely recommend this spot for...
Read moreI came here for lunch because there really are not that many options and Flom, Norway. They’re usually are large tour buses that come into town in the Norway the national tour, so restaurants fill up very quickly and it’s very hard to get reservations. Maybe it’s best to make reservations in advance. The restaurant has a rustic Viking feel. I had to wait here for half an hour before I got to see, and the restaurant is actually quite pricey with this drinks and food. The food was decent, but not really worth the price. The staff is very nice and friendly though....
