I am in American visiting Norway, and was looking for a good restaurant for dinner. I chose this one as it had such great reviews. I should note that I am also a semi-professional chef.
When I walked in I was greeted by a polite man, and the waitstaff were incredibly fast, cheerful and pleasant to deal with.
I ordered three tenderloins with different sauces on them — bernaise, mushroomgravy and a peppercorn sauce.
I asked for them to be cooked at a medium rare temperature. This did not seem to be a problem for the waitress and she clearly understood my request.
She returned three minutes later with three completely RAW steaks. And when I say raw, I mean blue.
I asked her to please return with three medium rare, or even medium steaks. At this point she was confused and started to ask me how the chef should fix it.
I explained that I could not eat completely raw meat.
She asked me if the chef should cook the steak (which had been cut into and was covered in sauce) more.
I did not want it cooked again as the meat had already been cut into. She seemed confused but said she said she would fix it.
She returned three minutes later with my tenderloin, which had been butterflied (!!) seared to very well done. It was chewy and not even close to edible.
The chef took off the sauce, butterflied the meat, seared the meat and returned it to me.
The meal was completely ruined.
The waitress asked me how it was. I told her that it had been completely ruined. She smiled and walked away.
The meat was extremely chewy and overcooked. The sauces were satisfactory. The bernaise was extremely salty, it would have been nice with just lemon juice or vinegar (it tasted like they used lemon as a base), and the vegetables were cooked well.
I will not be eating here again, but hope that this review will help the management improve their product. I personally do not serve food that I am not proud of, and based upon the positive reviews, hope that the owner or Management would have similar views and I sincerely hope this was a one-of and and not...
Read moreCasa Mia is truly a magical place, offering an authentic Italian experience. From the moment we walked in, we were enchanted by the warm and inviting atmosphere, with its tasteful décor that perfectly blends rustic Italian charm and modern elegance. The soft lighting, coupled with traditional Italian music playing in the background, made us feel like we had stepped into a cozy trattoria in the heart of Italy.
The menu offered a wide variety of options, and we decided to try a little bit of everything. We ordered the lasagna, pizza, and a meat dish, followed by dessert. Each dish was prepared with great attention to detail, using fresh ingredients that truly elevated the flavors. The lasagna was rich and comforting, with layers of perfectly cooked pasta. The pizza was crisp, with a thin, flavorful crust and a generous topping of fresh ingredients. As for the meat dish, it was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, accompanied by delicious oven baked potatos.
For dessert, we savored the tortino al cioccolato paired with vanilla ice cream. It was the perfect sweet finale – exquisitely presented and balanced in flavor, with the warm, rich chocolate melding beautifully with the creamy ice cream. Throughout our dining experience, the staff were incredibly kind and attentive, ensuring we felt welcomed and at home. Their warm hospitality made the evening even more special.
Overall, Casa Mia is a gem of a restaurant, offering fantastic food and a genuine Italian dining experience. We can't...
Read moreIt is a cosy, but very busy place. It’s easy to reach, because it is close to the train station. The restaurant has wheelchair and stroller access and there is a diaper changing table in the toilet. It is very clean, even tough there are always many customers. The service is very fast, friendly and attentive. The food is very delicious, fresh, the tastes are very good worked out. They also have alcohol free cocktails and drinks, which goes very well with well with the food. It’s a classic Italian menu and the portions are big, the prices are good. I would recommend to book a table in advance, because you may have to wait a bit to get a table. I highly recommend to visit this restaurant!! It is...
