The food is good, the service is attentive, and they handle food allergies well. For Oslo, a 6-course prix fixe for 800kr is reasonable, but nothing stands out except that every wine paired was a miss. This would be 4-stars if I hadn't done the wine pairing, actually.
A potato soup opener with mussel dip and endive "chips" was a very nice start. Followed by celeriac in broth, which was fine. The scallops in tarragon tragically bordered on rubbery and the pickled radish was wholly unnecessary. The cod was the biggest standout, but the sourdough flat bread served with was a bit undercooked. The reindeer main course was good, with perfectly cooked brussel sprouts, but the artichoke had little taste beyond its crunch texture. A milk ice cream finished things off: the mild flavor underlining the theme of the evening. We left feeling full, but not quite satisfied.
Pacing is also an issue, especially when combined with the questionable wine pairing. 20 minutes between courses means you're almost done with the wine before the food it is to pair with even arrives.
They're a new restaurant and I hope they work out their pacing issues. I'd like to return in 6 months or so, but even then I'm not sure I'd get the wine...
Read moreWe had high expectations after trying to book a table here for a while, but unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to the hype. The white asparagus dish was a strong start and genuinely enjoyable. We were served a couple of appetizers—a savory éclair that was fine, and a clam dish that was good, but essentially just tasted of tomatoes.
The sjøkreps—usually my favorite crustacean—was a disappointment and felt like a missed opportunity. The fish course (we had turbot on foam) was decent, but nothing remarkable.
The biggest letdown was the veal. While the meat was tender, the dish as a whole lacked coherence and flavor. The sauce had unappetizing lumps of fat, and the overall composition didn’t quite come together for me.
The dessert was beautifully presented, and while I enjoyed it, the passion fruit flavor completely overpowered the multe, which I had been looking forward to.
On the positive side, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. It’s clear the team puts care into the dining experience, even if the food didn’t quite meet...
Read moreTo start with the positive the bread was amazing. The rest of the food was good but the bread was simply exquisite.
For the negative you simply have to have the wine menu or go somewhere else. Unlike places like Hyde or Palace Grill you can not have a beer with your food, it is wine or bust. They have one beer on the menu, and it tastes like sewage. The atmosphere and service is cold, clinical and impersonal.
In spite good food and a reasonable price level (we paid around 5k with one wine package) it was an unpleasant experience. I...
