Mac & Cheese Bar — Restaurant in Oslo

Positives: I ordered for pickup through Foodora and the food was ready right on time. The person who handed the food off was very friendly, and I was impressed with the portion size for the price.

Negative: I ordered the mushroom mac & cheese, and it was inedible. The mushroom layer had an overwhelming soy flavor to it, and no hint of truffle. And the mac & cheese below is a starchy flavorless mass. Too much flour in the sauce, and not enough seasoning.

Words cannot convey my disappointment at having to throw it away, when I was really looking forward to some cheesy comfort food.

But I also ordered a side salad which was just fine, so...yay...

We ordered the mushroom Mac and cheese, and the dirty fries. The Mac was more greasy than cheesy, actually we couldn't taste cheese at all. The only reason we think cheese was in it was because of the stringy texture of melted cheese. The dirty fries were just fries with some sauce on the top, and not enough to go through the whole dish. Eating "in" was only possible on a bench inside or two small 2 person tables, which was fine for us.

When you're only making 1 thing, and it's the name of the restaurant, you expect it to be good. It seems like they focus more on toppings than perfecting the base dish of...

Quite tasty, it isn’t cheddar Mac n cheese but it was still great. I’ll be ordering again, though I do wish the food was slightly cheaper.

Fries are okay, would prefer if they swapped to a more flat container so they could layer the toppings across more of the fries. I felt like I ate the toppings and then just fries.

Regardless it is still worth a try, the concept is great and the execution is decent. Hope to see more improvements so I can whole heartedly recommend...
