Fiskekrogen — Restaurant in Vågan

I visited Fiskekrogen in Aug 2024 and, while the food and ambiance were excellent, I had an experience that left me feeling quite uncomfortable. Most of the staff were friendly and professional, but I encountered an issue with one waiter that I feel is worth mentioning.

Upon arrival, I was guided to my seat by a tall waiter. He walked ahead of me without much instruction, and I found myself unsure of where to go for a moment. When I caught up, he asked me to choose between two tables, but when I pointed to the one I preferred, he snapped at me, saying it wasn’t an option, indicating another table instead. The situation was a bit confusing, but I decided to let it go.

As I sat down, the waiter removed the extra utensils from the table, doing so very close to my face repeatedly, which felt a bit intrusive. Initially, I thought perhaps he was just having an off day. However, as the meal progressed, I noticed that he was considerably more attentive and engaging with other guests, even going out of his way to offer them better tables as they became available.

It’s hard not to notice when you’re being treated differently, and was the only customer of color in the room. While I hope this wasn’t the case, it did leave me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome.

Later that meal another waitress helped me to pick up the bill. Her friendliness made such contrast. So I’m sharing this feedback in the hopes that it will encourage the restaurant to ensure all customers receive the same quality service, regardless of...

A bit disappointed with the food as well as the restaurant's service. Food was only so so, nothing special or really good. The traffic in this part of Lofoten is known to be very crowded and it was not easy to find a parking place, especially in summer months with tourists. That was also the reason why we were 12 minutes late to our reservation and the first thing the front receptionist lady told us when we arrived was not a warm welcome but "you are late for your reservation" with a hard cold face. If it was not only for my friends being too hungry to find another restaurant, I would have just walk away from that non-welcoming attitude. The staff who was assigned to the table, on the other hand, was very friendly and nice. The restaurant itself is also pretty small and if you are assigned to sit near the kitchen area, you will have the food smell sticked to your clothes long after the meal.

All in all, not worth a visit and I will not come back nor recommend this restaurant due to poor taste, and mediocre...

Excellent restaurant by the Henningsvær canal. I'm excited. I really have to say that during my 14-day vacation I never ate better than here. As soon as I walked in I felt very welcome and the hospitable greeting from the Argentinian waiter was impressive. He immediately led us very attentively to our seat next to the window with an impressive panorama. I ate a fish soup. The soup tasted overly delicious. I'm not a fan of soups, but you should try one of these. As a second course, I then ate a whale carpaccio. Very distinctive taste. My friends ate well too. The toilets are clean and stylishly furnished. The waiter is also worth an experience because he inspires with his manner and hospitality. The only criticism is that you were not allowed to pay separately. Nonetheless, I am amazed at his ability. Shouldn't be a criticism either. Just a starting point for further improvement.
