Coya Muscat truly offers a memorable dining experience that stands out in the city's culinary scene. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional, with Christine and Hazeem going above and beyond to ensure our evening was flawless. Christine, in particular, was attentive and knowledgeable, while Hazeem was courteous and friendly, though I did have a small issue with him not clarifying the pricing on the gyoza.
Speaking of the food, the ceviche platter was undoubtedly the highlight—fresh, vibrant, and bursting with flavors that made it one of the best in town. The churros were crispy and delectable, and the tres leches was an indulgent, mouthwatering delight. These dishes alone make Coya worth visiting. The baby squid and avocado maki were good but not as extraordinary—nothing to write home about, but still tasty.
However, a point of disappointment was the gyoza. Original price for prawn gyoza is 6.490 for 5 pieces, and we asked for 1 additional piece and was charged a staggering 2.920 for just 1 piece. I couldn’t understand the logic behind this price, and the lack of explanation from Hazeem left me feeling somewhat misled. Clear communication about menu pricing, especially for items like these, would have been appreciated to avoid any confusion.
On a brighter note, the wine selection was excellent, and the overall ambiance was fantastic. The music created such a cool, laid-back vibe that reminded me of the Mango Mango Beach Bar in South Beach, Miami—an unexpected but welcome surprise! The environment was chic, yet relaxing, making it the perfect place to unwind with friends.
One of the most impressive aspects was the service team's willingness to assist with even the smallest of requests. I asked for a cigar cutter and matches, and though they easily could have said no, they went out of their way to accommodate me—this truly made the evening feel special.
Would I return? Absolutely. Coya is definitely a place to be if you’re looking for a vibrant atmosphere and top-notch service. Is it value for money? Not entirely, given the pricing issues we experienced, but the overall experience—especially the platter and service—made it worthwhile.
A big thank you to the team for making this evening so enjoyable, and I look forward to...
Read moreI can confidently say my experience at Coya Restaurant in Oman (St. Regis) was one of the worst I’ve ever had in over 40 years of living here. From start to finish, this place was a masterclass in disrespect, overcharging, and outright negligence. I was floored when I saw the bill—$155 for a single drink! It’s absurd and feels like a blatant attempt to exploit customers.
We were a group of 10, and despite having reservations, we were shockingly told there was no table available for us. Instead, we were forced to stand around at the bar, which was uncomfortable and completely unacceptable. The bartenders treated us with outright arrogance, smirking and acting as though we were inconveniencing them by simply being there. To add insult to injury, they overcharged another guest and never even brought him the drink. This isn’t just poor service; it’s bordering on fraud.
And if that wasn’t enough, the previous weekend, the valet service absolutely wrecked my friend’s car in the basement parking area. They claimed they were only going 10 KPH, but the damage was so severe that his doors wouldn’t even shut afterward. This was a clear case of reckless handling, but they brushed it off with empty excuses, showing zero accountability.
I cannot stress enough how awful this place is. Between the predatory pricing, dismissive staff, and lack of responsibility, I would strongly advise anyone to steer clear of Coya if they want a respectful, enjoyable dining experience. This place has a long way to go before it can call itself a reputable...
Read moreI had reserved a table for 8:30 and was only given my table at 8:55 as the restaurant was full which is unacceptable for a restaurant like coya!
We were assigned a table in the smoking area and asked the staff to change the table as we are all non smokers and one of us has asthma but there was absolutely no cooperation from the staff even though we asked a couple of times.
We asked for the drinks menu but were told that all the mocktails on the menu were not available.
The food was ok but slightly bland and lacked flavour, very small portion sizes and very overpriced.
The staff were clearing our table before we finished our food and did not ask before clearing the tables which we all found strange. One of the staff even started wiping off the table while one of us was still eating which was rude.
As excited as i was about having coya here in oman, i ended up being very disappointed with my...
