You’ve been in Muscat for a long time and enjoyed authentic Mughlai food at Begum’s but always craved more such restaurants in town. Well, your prayer has been answered. I finally ticked off another fine Mughlai restaurant in Muscat. Located behind Badr Al Samaa hospital in Al Khuwair, the newly opened The Nawaabs Restaurant is getting famous for its lip-smacking Awadhi-Mughlai dishes - whether it be Kebabs or Biriyanis.
Food: We ordered a mixed platter of a variety of Kebabs - Also tried Shahi Murgh Makhanwala (Butter Chicken) with Garlic and Butter Naan. Normally butter chicken in most restaurants serves boneless chicken but it was half a chicken in this one! The quantity served is very generous compared to the other local restaurants in Muscat. Chilled fresh lime soda was a refreshing drink to go along with the food.
Dessert: Moong dal ka Halwa, Shahi Tukda, Kheer and Gulab Jamun were on the offering. We tried the soft and melt-in-your-mouth Gulab Jamun
Staff service: Very pleasing, polite and well-behaved staff who welcomed us warmly and kept checking on us. When we enquired about the Mutton Leg roast, the Manager of the restaurant came to our table and explained to us about it. While we were leaving the owner of the restaurant, Mr Feroz Khan, too greeted us as a good host.
Highly recommend this restaurant for its food, ambience and service. Please hit the Like button if you found...
Read moreThe Nawab's is a hidden gem in Al Khuwair, Muscat , Oman . A place for fine dining that wont leave a hole in your pocket. Beautiful interiors with attention to details, Soothening Gazals in the background Carefully curated menu, The chef has understood that Culinary is an art which is a dance of flavors. The immaculately turned up staff has the right amount of warmth and hospitality. A special mention about the host/manager whose loving persuasion made us change our plans to check into another place for want of boneless chicken. We never regretted giving into his suggestion... Please take it as a gentle reminder to add bone less chicken in your menu. We were looking forward eagerly for dal bhukara which was an additional order after being swept off our feet by other items .... But we had to settle for dal tadka which was yummy though... So hopefully in our next visit we will wrap a piece of bone less chicken in a soft rumali and dip it in makhani gravy ,gently let it play with our taste buds and complete the joy with a spoonful of creamy dal Bhukara... All the best...
Read moreWe recently visited Nawab, which claims to serve authentic Lucknowi food. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. The kebabs lacked proper salt and spice and the strong kevda fragrance was overpowering. The paratha was far from authentic — the middle part was so thin and crispy that it felt more like a papad. Being from Lucknow ourselves, we were expecting the true taste of home, but this was nowhere close to real Lucknowi cuisine. Even the curd we asked along with kabab was served in a large bowl, and they charged extra for it, which we had to return. When a signature Lucknow dish like kebab-paratha turned out this bad, it makes us wonder how the rest of the food would be The food was overpriced and completely lacked taste. Overall, Nawab is misleading customers under the name of “authentic Lucknow food.”
Highly disappointed — definitely not recommended for anyone looking for genuine...
