The name, “Peach Fuzz International” isn’t the only thing that doesn’t make sense about this restaurant. What is such an awesome restaurant doing in such a sketchy neighborhood? And what is the owner, who is just as American as he is Panamanian, doing there?
Who knows and who cares. What’s important is that the seafood at Peach Fuzz International is better than any I’ve tried at way more upscale restaurants.
I recommend trying pataconos rellenos (plantain cups filled with your choice of seafood). The octopus, whole red snapper, and everything else on the “menu” (he has no menu, you just ask what’s available) are delicious.
Beware that the neighborhood Peach Fuzz is in is so sketchy that our Uber driver, upon seeing our destination, exclaimed, “Oh my! You’re entering into the wolves’ den! Why?” Do not walk there, even though it’s close. And don’t go at night. But you’ll have no problem if you go by car during the day. There’s a strong police presence and diners are left alone out of respect for the owner. Seeing this side of town is an experience in itself.
Peach Fuzz definitely deserves is spot among the best Panamanian food in Panama City, that I...
Read moreDuring our stay in Panama we were advised to visit this black owned restaurant. It did not disappoint. We came on a Sunday the time online states it opens at 12 we got there at 1 and was told that they were literally out of everything already lol. Danny the owner told us how a lot of people would put in orders early in the morning. He did have two orders left. One whole fish and one fillet. This food was amazing. He learned that we were from the states and gave us his first time customer special which is whatever you order and it comes with some French fries, salad, plantains, and smashed plantains. Everything was so good. Especially the salad. It had onions and peppers with a certain vinaigrette on it. Coming from someone who hates to eat onions, I ate every single one and wanted more. I told him I never eat onions and I could eat the salad every day if I could. He also told us alittle bit about himself and how he came to open his restaurant in Panama. He was such a friendly person. Would definitely recommend...
