We went by on a Tuesday and were going to a little Italian place but it was closed. We then decided to go for Chinese and I saw this restaurant above the Chinese and decided to check it out. The restaurant was nice, not too busy at all. We loved the food, wine and the service. My husband wanted to come back the next evening but we decided to go on Friday evening as we were returning back to Puerto Armuelles on Saturday. The restaurant was busy on Friday and our previous server had told us it would be busy. I thought it would lively and have a good atmosphere being busy. I was wrong. We were sat down immediately. They took our drink order but didn’t offer, or bring us any water. We placed our order for appetizers. Shortly after we ordered our appetizers a waiter came to ask if we were ready to order. We ordered thinking they wouldn’t bring the meal out while we had our appetizers as they didn’t on Tuesday. We were wrong. I was still eating my small soup when my meal came. I had no time to breathe between food basically. I pushed my soup aside unfinished as I didn’t want my meal to get cold. It was delicious of course as was the soup and the wine. We had 4 different people serving us, not just one waiter. I pushed my plate forward to take a breather from eating and was asked if I was done, which I said no. Only a few minutes later was I asked by another waiter if I was done, so I just said yes. I felt rushed and wasn’t happy. The service was way to fast, they wanted people in and out basically. Spending $100 dollars for 2 and you’re going to rush me out of your restaurant, well then sadly I...
Read moreDon't judge a book by its cover! From the outside this restaurant is rather disappointing, but don't hesitate to go in and enjoy wonderful food in a cozy ambience with nice views, lots of natural light and lots of Peruvian artwork on the walls! The menu is rich and focuses on seafood, fish and meat, all of which are excellent. Portion sizes are rather "European" with main courses being of good size, but all for one person, not ideal to share, and appetizers are about half as much (in price, as well). There are lots of classic dishes (like lobster or prawns Thermidor), but it is in the more creative/fusion ones that the chef really excels with great combinations of flavors. The Corvina Fujimory was the star of the evening and everyone who tried it loved it. The service is also attentive and fast. The only negative note is, unfortunately, the coffee: awful. Do NOT order the coffe at the end of your meal and you will have a...
Read moreThe atmosphere is colorful and inviting, but I wouldn't call it cosy. The staff were prompt, efficient, and polite - but I wouldn't call them friendly, actually kind of stand-off-ish. I ordered ceviche and the sea bass topped with a butter/wine sauce and pawns. The ceviche was quite excellent. The bass and prawns were cooked perfectly. But the salt level was off the charts. We don't use much salt at home, so we tend to notice it when we go out since chefs tend to use salt much, much more liberally. But, even expecting higher levels of salt at a restaurant, this was way too much. I didn't finish it. Such a disappointment really, since it was tasty otherwise. My husband had the chicken caribe. He had the same complaint - good flavors, but the salt level was really unpleasant.
I wish I could write a...
