Ordering food and delivery was fast and efficient, the cleaning of table and ordering of other items (drinks, extra platter of rice or other dish) was a total nightmare, after our meal we waited almost an hour for our table to be cleared and desert to be ordered and served. This was made even more embarrassing as our table was placed right in front of the bar/counter/checkout area where crowds of their staff were just walking past our table. My family and I were treated like we didn't belong there and I must say I felt embarrassed and upset at the treatment of our service as it was just plain unprofessional and ignorant to be treated that way. What's even worse when we went on to the terrace to sit and just allow ourselves that time to take in the fresh air the hostess decides to switch the lights off just above us and leaves the entire terrace lights even though it was empty as her brain. I've dined at this restaurant frequently over the years, even when this establishment was sinking in its former life,...

Unlike some of the other venues, Asia Aroma didn't utilise the stunning harbor views, with its dinners essentially encapsulated in its appropriately Chinese themed interior. Asia Aroma's divides the local dining set. Its either loved or avoided. Its best compared to western Asian, with almost nothing on the menu, or served that you would find in Asia. That said, as far as typical western Asian restaurants Asia Aroma's is quite good. My stomach seems to never be able to keep their food down, that said many of my family and friends have no issues. If you're a new resident to POM you will eat here eventually, if you're passing through i'd recommend many other venues that serve more authentic Asian cuisine, which despite being a relatively small capital POM is spoilt for its number of scattered Malaysian, Korean, Japanese, Taiwanese, and provincial Chinese venues. ...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about Asia Aromas. In a way it's nostalgic as the menu feels like a 1970s-80s Australian Chinese restaurant. They also have a Thai menu. In another way it just doesn't "do it" for me. I realize that's vague. I have a few standard menu choices I order because I like them and they have never disappointed. In PNG where consistency is rare that's a recommendation in itself.
Some other reviews have negative comments about the service. It's not great but it's also not bad.
3 stars for everything seems about right.
Their Thai dried dishes are good -- both chicken & prawns, but the Thai dried beef isn't worth choosing. Salt & pepper squid or prawns are also good and rated highly by many in Port Moresby.
The photo in the review is Thai...
