If you want an Okinawan experience, this is probably a good place to go, but not for a generic Japanese experience.
Let’s start with the service, as soon as I entered, I was not greeted, I needed to engage with the check-out lady to get a table.
An older Japanese guy came to take my order, and we had a short argument about “tonkotsu”, I asked him if the ramen broth was Tonkotsu, he said is not, but when I asked if it is made of Pork bones, he said yes, so maybe I said “tonkotsu” with an accent, however never had that issue in Japan. Maybe there is a Uchinaaguchi word for Tonkotsu, hence why he didn’t get what I wanted to say.
The food: My ramen came quick, and it had the thick Okinawan noodles, instead of the generally thin Ramen noodles you find in Tokyo and the north, it was nice but it got cold very quickly, 2 pieces of pork some corn and noodles in the soup and not much else. Also just boiled egg and not the Ajitsuke Tamago I usually find everywhere, might be another Okinawan thing maybe. Flavour was good, but the broth was thick but not very flavourful.
Ordered Yakitori, and that was great, very tasty, not very charcoal like, but it was good.
The edamame was good, I ordered the one with garlic.
The atmosphere was ok, it is dark, and there are plenty of lights, and the furniture looked nice.
I would not go again, I don’t think the workers are very passionate about their work, and are just there to get their salaries, which contrast with other Japanese restaurants where the staff is usually super hype (this is truth for Australia, Japan, UK and NZ) so is a bit underwhelming.
Also insanely expensive if you are Peruvian, but ok priced if you are from overseas. I would expect so much more for the money I...
Existen mejores opciones a...
Read moreNice quiet atmosphere and excellent service. Great quality food, tasty but on the balanced and healthy side. Attention to details even on the daily menu options. My parents eat lunch there at least twice a week and they are never disappointed.
Always well balanced options with good quality salads and fruits for dessert. Hard to beat for a daily lunch.
