John's Kitchen
Luzon, Philippines Youve Been Warned January 2024 My friends who l went with recommended this place as they have been many times before. Since they are more like family than friends, and it was a Birthday celebration, there were a total of 5 of us who attended the celibration. It is an outdoor eatery with a buffet line as well as very thin steaks prepared to your liking. Since it is all you can eat, the size of the steaks really dont matter, lm just clarifying for those that have never been there expecting different cuts of meat reminiscent of what one might expect their steak to be upon ordering. The buffet line was average at best however DO NOT expect the food on that line to be hot It might arrive there hot, but it quickly cools to luke warm or cold. The spaghetti was less than warm, as were the mashed potatoes, The chicken was ok, as was the sliced Roast Beef swimming in Brown gravy, again passable at best. But what can one expect for a bit over 640php. The spaghetti in my opinion was terrible, it might have been better if it was warmer than the outside temperature. Their mashed potatoes, the same. Sorry, consider me a food snob if you like as others opinions of me other than those people l care about understandy mean little to me. I could not nor would not eat either the spaghetti or the potatoes, and my friends sister although eating and l gather enjoying the salad left maybe 2 or 3 fork fulls of salad this MAJOR MISTAKE as well as the left over spaghetti and mashed potatoes will rear their ugly heads to bite me in the posterior region later. After learning my lesson with the spaghetti and mashed potatoes, l stuck with the steak . Ive experienced food poisening for a variety of different reasons, and regardless what the owners or managers will say, the temperature of the food on the line was BELOW STANDARDS. Again, it might have been brought to the line hot, but it quickly lost optimum temperature which made it a MAJOR PROBLEM. The less than adequate temperature, coupled with the flies sharing in the buffet made it a perfect storm for the probability of hours on your knees praying to the porcelain CR Gods. No thanks. They actually charged me 455p for the food l left saying their OWNER would charge them which is the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard. Either they are lying or their boss has no business owning a restaurant. I can go on and on about the embarrassment they caused us, the fact l tried to contact the owner, prior to posting this review, but just like my friend trying to do the same thing was only told they would relay the message. From a bussiness standpoint this is one of the most assinine answers you can give. After they told me the same thing, I told them "They can read the review on Trip advisor. So, if you're the owner, l tried to do this without making it public. Now, you can enjoy the carnage your management team created. So, if the owner reads this, you might want to rethink your management team, or, be available to talk to disatisfied customers.
The plate you see in the photo cost me 450+ php ridiculous as it is. If you plan on eating here make sure you go up many times instead of taking a normal serving. And if its cold, which it will be, MAKE SURE YOU TELL THEM IMMEDIATELY, so they wont do to you what they did to us. My friend/Brother actually asked them why they never did it before, and was it because l was a Foreigner....
Read moreWhen it comes to the star of the show, the T-bone steaks at John's Kitchen are truly remarkable. Each cut was cooked to perfection, offering a succulent and flavorful dining experience. The T-bone steak, known for its combination of tenderloin and strip steak, provided the best of both worlds. The meat was juicy, well-seasoned, and had a beautiful char on the outside. If you're a fan of T-bone steaks, John's Kitchen is the place to be.
One aspect that pleasantly surprised me during this visit was the improved speed of service. Compared to my last visit, the steaks arrived at our table much faster. The staff seemed more efficient and attentive, ensuring that we didn't have to wait long to dig into our mouthwatering steaks. This improvement in service speed definitely added to the overall dining experience.
Although John's Kitchen specializes in T-bone steaks, the sides deserve recognition as well. The selection of sides provided a delightful accompaniment to the star of the meal. From creamy mashed potatoes to fresh seasonal vegetables, each side dish was prepared with care. The flavors were well-balanced, and the portions were generous, enhancing the overall...
Read moreT-bone steaks are served here. The steaks are grilled as is so the fat and gristle is not trimmed off. You have to do this yourself which normally isn't a problem, but the knives they provide aren't very sharp which can make things a bit difficult. Problem can be solved by bringing your own steak knife. Other all you can eat food items like potatoes and pasta are offered which are very tasty, but get a couple steaks in you first, otherwise you'll get full to quick. Artificial fruit drinks come with the buffet, but you can purchase a variety of other drinks if you prefer. This is an outside eating establishment and can get a bit uncomfortable on those hot humid nights. Surprisingly for being outside we didn't have a bunch of flies around our food. Service was good, but servers seemed a bit overwhelmed when...
