Disappointing Experience at Makimura Ramen Bar (Main Branch)
I may not be a chef, but I have a discerning palate, especially when it comes to authentic cuisines like Korean and Japanese. I’m also an avid ramen lover, so I can usually tell when something is high quality or not.. and unfortunately, my experience at Makimura Ramen Bar was far from satisfactory.
This was actually my second time trying their ramen. The first time was when they had just opened, and the dish I ordered was overwhelmingly salty 🤢 That experience alone made me hesitant to return 😓 However, after seeing their expansion and multiple branches opening, I thought perhaps the food had improved — so I gave it another shot.
Sadly, my second visit was even more disappointing. 😕
The ramen broth was inedible 🤢 it had a foul taste and smell that I couldn’t quite identify 🤮 possibly from the pork, and it was excessively oily to the point that the oil overpowered the flavor of the soup. 😑 Even the maki was greasy and overly sweet, and the red iced tea was extremely sugary, making it hard to enjoy.
To make matters worse, the hygiene and cleanliness of the surrounding area were quite alarming. It’s surprising and concerning to see trash near a food establishment — especially one that serves as the main branch.
To be fair, the service was quick. Our food was served within 3 minutes of sitting down, which is commendable. But good service cannot make up for poor food quality and an unpleasant dining environment.
Overall, I found the experience to be a complete waste of money 💸 Given this was already my second disappointment, 🥴 Giving you one star is for the service, not for the food tho...

The moment we arrived at Maki mura Ramen Bar. We immediately sat on a vacant table not knowing that we must obtain a number first, before we can have a table to dine onto, then the waiters told us to proceed in front of the chef, wherein we can take our number of the order que as well as our order. Since we are new to the place, at that very moment there is no one to assist us. My cousin and I grab the the menu to pick our orders, suddenly my cousin saw the number order que below the table and grabbed one number for the order que. We are waiting on the line. When another waiters approaches us. Asking us where did we got our number. Since it's our first time dining there, we thought we are the ones who will get the number. Then she shouted at us saying "HINDI KAYO ANG KUKUHA NG NUMBER NYO!!! AKO ANG TAGABIGAY NG NUMBER". Then my cousin hand it over the number that we took earlier. Then we apologized at her. The said waiters did not even apologizes at us and let us walk away. Poor customer service, you must trainer. Her tone of voice and choice of words were very offensive!. We Filipinos are known to be hospitable, but what happens to her. She should know how to segregate her personal issues...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at a local ramen bar, and I must say that the experience was truly exceptional. The ramen I ordered was incredibly close to authentic, with the noodles perfectly prepared, achieving just the right balance of texture and flavor. The broth was rich, savory, and deeply satisfying—its depth of flavor elevated the entire dish. I was particularly impressed by how the various elements of the ramen harmonized, making each bite a delightful experience.
In addition to the ramen, I also had the opportunity to try their tempura, which was equally impressive. The tempura was light and crispy, with the batter perfectly cooked to complement the delicate flavors of the seafood and vegetables. The combination of these two dishes made for a wonderfully satisfying meal.
The price was very reasonable, especially considering the high quality of the food and the authenticity of the flavors. I am certain I will be returning soon to enjoy more of their delicious ramen and tempura. This place has definitely earned a place on my list of favorite...
