Elgon's Secret Garden — Restaurant in Bacolod

I'm the father of two kids. Currently, I am a cook in a restaurant here in California. I have also worked as a part-time cook in a 5-star hotel in Lafeyette, California. Yesterday, my family went into your restaurant to dine. They"ve waited almost an hour for their order to be taken by your personnel. But none of them took their orders.  A waiter cleaned the table never came back when my wife told him that she was going to order. He just told her that he needs to clean the table first before taking her orders. But he never came back. My wife caught the attention of  a woman who just gave them the menu but never stayed to list their orders. My wife waited for several minutes for her to come back. When she saw the woman who gave them the menu assisting other customers' orders who just went in, they decided to walk out and left your place disappointed and hungry. They also came in with an 89-year-old senior woman who waited and hoped she could be able to dine in. I'm really disappointed as a cook knowing my family waited for so long and left hungry. Last time when they held a Valentine’s dinner buffet in 2024, it was a flop. But I wanted to give this restaurant another chance because I wanted an intimate, celebratory dinner with my partner, and this place suddenly came to mind.

The place is undeniably beautiful, especially at night with the lights. When we arrived, there was a live acoustic duo performing, which added to the atmosphere. The waiter who served us was also great and attentive.

But when the food came… I was very disappointed. I thought they would have improved after a year, but the fish fillet with capers was so bland and the calamares was tough as well. It felt like those had been frozen for a long time. Even the dipping sauce couldn’t save the flavor of the dishes.

It would have been better if they just removed it from the menu if they cannot serve it well. I am so disappointed and I'm not even a picky eater.

I read the reviews and I'd looked at the website and it sounded fabulous, I checked the opening times and all was good, I was really excited and looking forward to a nice evening with great food. However, after getting a taxi to Egon's secret Garden, I was devastated to notice it all locked up, no signs no notices explaining why it wasn't open. I telephoned the numbers provided on the website, but no answer. As we were leaving another car arrived and had the same problem, so that's two customers they have lost.
