Gerry's SM Bacoor (Gerry's Grill) — Restaurant in Bacoor

I’ve been to the SM Bacoor branch twice, and both experiences were disappointing. The first visit was in December 2023 when my friends and I chose this restaurant for our annual gathering. We were exchanging gifts, laughing, and having a good time when a waiter named Mar started shushing us from across the room. We looked at each other, wondering if we had actually heard someone trying to hush us. It was incredibly unprofessional and rude. If we were being too loud, they could’ve approached us politely and asked us to tone it down. Instead, Mar and another colleague mocked us and pretended to be polite when they were in front of us. The atmosphere was ruined, and we kept giving them disapproving looks. We thought about leaving a review but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt, thinking everyone deserves a second chance.

Yesterday, my boyfriend’s friends chose to eat at the same branch because it had more space than other places. The moment we sat down, I noticed Mar again, and I told my boyfriend it was the same rude waiter from last year. We didn’t mention anything to the others, hoping he had changed. But sure enough, even before we placed our orders, Mar shot us a disapproving look as we laughed and chatted, almost as if judging us for having a good time. I was tempted to ask, "Is laughing not allowed here?" but I chose to remain calm throughout the meal. And Mar wasn’t the only rude staff member! Another waiter tossed our menus onto the table, leaving us stunned. This didn’t go unnoticed, and soon everyone at the table noticed the poor service. I didn’t say anything at that point, letting the others figure it out for themselves.

Later, when we were waiting for our food, we decided to order desserts. This time, a trainee waiter named Carl took our order, but he got it wrong the first time. We repeated our order and asked him to confirm it, but when he scratched his head in apparent irritation, it was clear he wasn’t happy about having to repeat it. One of our friends began to notice the unprofessionalism of the staff. Still, we remained polite, concerned they might do something to our food. One of our friends suggested we just let it go. When the desserts finally arrived, they were wrong—one of the desserts that was supposed to be a regular size was served in a larger “grande” size. My girlfriend and I had dinner here this evening. We tried another restaurant first, but they did not have crab, which disappointed my girlfriend. So, we walked around a bit and decided to try Gerry's. Originally, we had planned to eat there after payday, but we figured, "Why not?" and went inside.

I ordered the Blue Marlin Stead, fully expecting to be told, "Sorry sir. Out of stock." However, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was available. I asked about the sides that came with the marlin and I was disappointed to find out that there were none. So, I had ordered some french fries as a side. For some odd reason, the waiter brought the fries as an appetizer, instead of as a side dish.

When the fish came, I was (once again) pleasantly surprised when I saw that it was a decent sized portion. The fish was cooked well and there was just enough sauce/juice to ensure the fish was tender and tasty.

My girlfriend ordered the bulalo, which came with two rice. She shared some with me and the beef was very tender and broke apart very easily.

Overall, I would say that this Gerry's branch is pretty good. Although, I will most certainly update this after...

Gerry’s Grill surprised me in so many levels today. First, their vibe has changed. I feel like it’s now a tropical resort restaurant. I love how light the atmosphere is. We were greeted and assisted immediately by Carl. When we got seated, the server immediately approached us to give the menu and introduced himself. When it’s time to order Allen repeated our order before leaving to ensure he got the correct orders. I appreciate that so much coz I had multiple instances lately from different restaurants that they missed my order coz they did not repeat my order to verify. This really shows professionalism. 🤩🤩🤩 While waiting for our orders we were given complimentary potato chips. Loved it! 🙌😋 The unique food we got was the tinolang pampano, then their signature pork sisig, and the oh so delicious halo-halo! These are all must-try dishes! 😋😋😋 I must also say that Ereka was very attentive when we needed to add something to our order she immediately responded so Me & my family will surely dine in again as long as the quality is kept that way.
