The Place. Beautiful! They never fail me when it comes to the set up pf their place. This one os where I wanna dwell in the whole day. Unique place, perfect spot for photo shoots, scenic view that overlooks the city, what else would I wanna see? This is also a great place for prenup shoots.
The food. Whatever you see at their Gorordo branch, you basically will see here. I hope at the same price.
On February 14, 2019 they have an event. Only reserved guests will be allowed to enter. Dinner starts at 7pm. Buffet. Overflowing wine till 12mn, and will close at 2am. 1500/pax.
————————— Update: This is now the review for their valentines day special.
We were so disappointed. Get ready coz i can enumerate them.
Outside seating was freezing cold. Jacket can’t even help the cold. I think it’s not your first time to have an event and realize that it might rain. And your guests have no choice but to seat outside because all tables inside are occupied? What the heck???
That leads me to this point. Reservations of guests were not honored. That is, if you were aware that outside seating should not be considered as available for the guests. It means you accepted walk in guests that night. I saw an open blank receipt booklet on the entrance table. Meaning you were accepting on the spot payments. When I called you, you said only reserved guests are allowed to get in the venue. And that you have limited slots. Again, why is there an overflow of guests? And another thing, why dis one of your service crews asked us if we were paid for the buffet? Oh? I thought only reserved guests are allowed to get in? So that’s the reason why you ran out of seats inside. Why?
Parking was more than full. Haven’t you also considered the availability of your parking? Took us 30 freaking minutes to find a spot somewhere OUTSIDE your parking space.
I even heard a new comer said, “diri nalang ta wa may choice”.Long story short, we were disappointed because that was not the experience we expected. I’m sorry, I’ll never trust your events set up again.
My rating for you went from 4 to 1. 1 because the food...
Read moreWe enjoyed the food in this establishment HOWEVER we have many complaints around service and unreasonable policies in the restaurant
No service water. Since there is no service water, they will insist you purchase water bottles or other beverages. With the lack of service water, they will charge you CORKAGE if you bring your own personal water containers & tumblers from home. What kind of rule is that? We tried to call to reserve some seats ahead of time but they mentioned that if we want to reserve prior, the consumable charge per head is ₱1,000 but if we walk in, it's only ₱200. Why is there a big difference here? The pictures on their menu and boards are misleading compared to the actual products. Sausage in pictures look way bigger than what is served. We got the La Vie Sausage and it was tiny vs image. We complained and they then told us that it's because the La vie Sausage is a smaller sausagevs their other ones. Should have told us prior. We ordered the Caesar Salad which either comes with bacon bits or grilled chicken but not asked what we specifically wanted so they just gave us with Bacon Bits when we would have preferred Chicken. The comfort rooms in the restaurant are not disabled/senior friendly. You would have to go down a set of stairs just to use the toilet with no ramp/easy way for people to access. Food service took some time as well. Sausages took almost 30 minutes+ to prepare. And when they served some items, they were just warm and not hot anymore. Prices on the board outside don't fully match the prices found in restaurant.
Other concerns: Resto has signal in the parking area but does not have signal indoors or Al fresco area. Wifi has additional charge of ₱10 per hour.
Even if we enjoyed the food, the concerns were still very frustrating which made it hard to have a good overall experience. I hope the necessary improvements...
Read moreGreat view, poor culinary experience.
La Vie in the Sky definitely wins when it comes to aesthetics — the place is artsy, the view is stunning, and the breeze is refreshing. But beyond that, the experience quickly drops off.
Despite branding itself with French flair, the menu is far from authentically French. It’s more like a school canteen setup — pick your items from a display, queue up, and pay at the cashier. I came here hoping to enjoy some light appetizers and a drink with my girlfriend while soaking in the view. The menu is heavily Italian (pasta, pizza, ossobuco, gelato,...) I ended up going to the small fridge with some cold cuts and cheese.
After 20 minutes, our cold cuts arrived… rolled up tightly, with tiny cubes of cheese held together by toothpicks. Looked more like finger food for a kindergarten wine night, not the elevated French apéritif experience I expected. I’ve never enjoyed seeing my food overhandled — and that overly stylized “origami board” was a turn-off.
To be fair, this isn’t entirely on the management. I get the vibe — this was probably meant to be a cultural escape, maybe even part of Alliance Française. But over time, the customers shaped the experience. Most people seem to go for Instagram photos and the breeze — not the food, not the culture. That’s probably why they now charge a ₱200 consumable entrance fee: it only means that too many guests were just going for selfies, they don't really care about the food and service.
Lastly, from a tourist’s POV — getting there is already a challenge, but getting back? Practically impossible to find a taxi or having a Grab picking you up there.
In short: a great concept ruined by the wrong audience.
2 stars. One for the view and one...
