Since the hype and social media posts, I decided to try it for myself. So I went there at around 2pm to avoid the peak hour since I will be dining alone.
The place from the outside looks like an old house converted into a restaurant. When inside, it has a wider area which accommodates many diners. Typical tiled floors, simple tables with a tissue pack or napkin and a garbage bin. glass for water, spoon, fork and straw are self service.
The lighting is acceptable and the place is air-conditioned, the only problem I have is that there is a fly inside the diner.
The staff was the deal breaker of my overall experience. I didn't expect much as most would say that their food is priced at a student friendly affordable level. The serving size is good also. However when I got there, there are few tables with no diners and the place is not crowded but none of the staff just looked at me and didn't offer the menu.
So I got up and went to the counter to get the menu since none of the staff standing didn't bother to think why am I there haha. Anyways, the chinese guy at the counter saw me looking at the menu and called the female staff to get my order.
Now the food, I would say its chinese and really affordable as most dish is below P200 and the serving is good. I ordered their beef noodles, fried dumpling and a beef dish with rice and vegetables. I also ordered soda.
The beef is tender but not melts in your mouth level. The braised beef with rice and vegetables is acceptable for me based on meat texture, flavour and serving size. I just don't like the vegetable side dish but the cup of rice is big.
The beef noodles taste and smells good. The beef is tender and the noodles is kinda thick for my liking. Very good serving size and served hot.
The fried wanton/dumpling is good for sharing serving size of two people, crispy and served hot. This was the last dish that was served so their order to waiting time is acceptable though nothing special about the dish.
Overall, if your on a budget and wants a decent and affordable Chinese dish, this place is recommended. I just hope that the staff will be more attentive to solo diners the same way they do for...
Read moreThere is something about restaurants that has students as customers cause it only means one thing, the place is affordable and serves delicious meals, and nothing is more truer than here in Shaxian. This is an authentic Chinese Restaurant that is both affordable and delicious. Finally I can review this restaurant cause I have dined here twice, during lunch and during dinner.
The place is haven to mostly chinese patrons but students also flock this place. For lunch, we ordered the whole Orleans Roast Chicken priced at P400 which is good for 3 to 4 persons. We also asked for Chicken Soup priced at P120, which is good for 1 person but we decided to split into three to have a taste of the soup which is very good. We also got Yangzhou Fried Rice priced at P150 which we split into 2. And lastly, we had steamed dumplings with peanut butter dip. It was a full meal for 3 persons and we paid P800+ with drinks. Not bad.
For dinner, we had Yangzhou Fried Rice - P150, Fried Noodles - P150, Fried Wanton - P120, and Beef Noodle Soup - P150. For 3 persons, the price of our dinner was not bad at all. The food is still great, the ambience is very homey and attendants are very...
Read moreWe visited this place out of the hype posted by food vloggers. Well, it was really worth the visit. The venue is just really small if you have a private car, you need to scout for a parking space first. However, when you reach the restaurant there are tons of tables. The restaurant is ventilated but less exhaust, so the smell of the steam will stick on your clothes. If you are looking for an authentic Chinese food cooked by Chinese, this is a good place for you.
Food: we ordered the wonton noodle soup (150php), braised meat assorted (250php), steamed dumplings (150php), dumplings (100php) and roasted chicken meal. The food was superb. A bowl of noodles can be shared if you eat light. There dumplings is the cheapest around the area and has a good serving.
Service: they do have a very fast service, and they will provide tissue for each table. Utensils are self-service. If you want a spicy sauce you can ask the waitress. The spicy sauce is great to pair with the dumplings rather than the peanut sauce....
