Original Biscocho Haus — Restaurant in Iloilo City

The Original Biscocho Haus was a terrible experience. We spent nearly ₱10,000 on pasalubong—over seven boxes—yet the staff treated us with complete disrespect. The place was packed and chaotic, but what really made it worse was how the staff handled a simple request.

They had a promo where a free candle was given for purchases over ₱2,000, which we obviously exceeded multiple times over. But when we asked for it, the staff outright refused and argued with us instead of just honoring their own policy. The way they spoke was rude and dismissive, as if we were inconveniencing them by asking for something they were supposed to give.

For a place that charges such high prices, you’d expect at least decent customer service, but instead, we got attitude and a stressful experience. Definitely not worth the visit—there are better places in Iloilo to get pasalubong without dealing with rude staff and...

Even if they claim they are the original, I realize original does not necessarily mean the best. Anyway, price is ok. Food is normal. Atmosphere is ok. I just do not like the tablea. I thought it was pure. And I asked the staff if it is pure and unsweetened, which they confirmed. But when I boiled some of what I bought, it really is not pure. And it contains sugar with bita of artificial cacao powder. Not good when you lie about your product. Yong iba siguro baka maniwala din. But for someone who grew up in a place na may madaming cacao, at growing up loving lola's batirol-made cacao drink, I can definitely say this is a low-key scam. Being the original Biscocho Haus outlet, it is quite famous and easy to find as it is just a stone's throw away from the Jaro Plaza. In our case, we simply asked a cab driver to take us there. The items are mostly the same as those available from other BH outlets but of course part of the reason you go there is because it is THE original. It has become somewhat a popular tourists' destination in the area that it is usually busier than the other stores.
