I grew up in Bavaria.
The place The decorations are authentic Bavarian things. The person who has created this place surely came from Bavaria. But the original owner from Bavaria is gone. The place looks like it had it's best days decades ago. Not much maintenence. The walls haven't seen fresh paint in more than a decade. There puffer fish that hangs at the bar has dust as thick as my finger. The items in the cabinet also full with dust. I did not feel comfortable. Someone created a great place in the past, now it's run with zero maintenance.
The Beer We don't drink beer in - we call it Biermass - 1 liter glasses when we go to a restaurant in Bavaria. We only have them at Bierfests. Using it in a restaurant is odd and here it gets warm. I prefer smaller glasses in the Philippines to always have cold beer.
Going to a Bavarian restaurant I was really looking forward to having Bavarian beer. They had none. All they had was 1 liter glasses of local brewed draft beer. A secret recipe they've told us. Coincidentally it tastes exactly like SM Pilsen. Bavaria has the oldest breweries in the world. You can't copy brew that here. You need to offer real Bavarian beer. It is available in the Philippines and many other restaurants offer it.
The food Potato salad is made with sweet mayonnaise. A disgrace. It's exactly what differs Bavarian potato salad from potato salad of other German regions, No Mayonnaise. We use oil, vinegar, mustard, no mayonnaise, no mayonnaise, no mayonnaise and definitely no sweet mayonnaise. The rest of the food was sub ok. Nothing that reminded me of Bavaria. Many of the dishes on the menu are not Bavarian. European maybe. Portion was quite small. I left hungry
Don't come here for a Bavarian...
Read more2ND VISIT: I am very disappointed. While the Bavarian beer was good, the food plates were VERY small for such a price. Noone of my group felt full afterwards, and we had to get smth. else. The cordon-bleu itself was very good and in a for me new shape: cylinder-like. Including the side dishes, I could have eaten the dish 3x to feel full, however.
They somehow drastically changed the amount of food handed out compared to last time. This way I can no longer recommend it as it is way too expensive for what you get.
1ST VISIT: Finally a place offering servings of 1l of beer :-) Sadly the Bavarian beer was never available. I liked the Diesel (sweet, dark beer), the other is Radler (sweet, light).
I can confirm the food is quite German. The full-corn bread, however, has caraway seed in it, which greatly masks the overall taste and it shouldn't be present. Nonetheless I enjoyed the bread, Schnitzel and sausage...
Read moreAfter seeing a comment on a forum by an expat claiming that this place makes the best steak in the country, I was intrigued. Being Czech born I am also a big beer lover and was looking forward to their beer. The tenderloin steak was a five star, but the accompanying mashed potatoes was like a cold, dry sock. The Hungarian goulash was completely uninspiring, the pasta with it was lacking in flavor, and the beer Bavarian was flat. Like it was scooped out of a bucket. I asked if it came from a bottle, as I prefer to keep the bubbles and drink straight from the bottle. They said they don't have, nor do they have kegs, but it is "some mix". What the heck is that supposed to mean? Any German would cringe at this. The potato soup was like a powdered mix, no potato chunks, and they first mistook my order for corn soup, which tasted like slop you get at an...
