Base Cafe Steakhouse + Bar — Restaurant in Lipa

Let me start off sa place, it was good actually, they have Al fresco dining, stayed there for a little while lang kasi the staff offered us if we'd want to transfer to their airconditioned area (which is katabi lang din naman).

Their staffs are all very accomodating, guiding us for our order since we're not fully decided on our meal until we finished our meal (from time to time they are checking on us about the food, comfortability, etc.)

For the food, we waited for 30-45 mins, I think? which is understood cause this is not a fast food. But the waiting time is very worth it, the food is great. We ordered truffle pasta and angus steak (both are good for 2). The taste fo truffle pasta is not so over whelming, hindi nakakaumay plus sobrang creamy. Meanwhile for the steak, kuha nila yung requested doneness (although there are small portions na I think hilaw pa since hard to chew but overall okay sya). We even had a wine (asked them different wine available, recommendation) to more compliment the steak.

And they got also a little surprise for us, a complimentary dessert since Sir Joel heard that we are celebarting our anniversary. Definitely we'll be back there (would like to also try Frasch by...

Parking is reasonable but you could find issues if it is busy.

The location itself is reasonably easy to find if you use Waze.

Washrooms are fairly basic and sorry this as a big influence on the final overall mark.

The food is reasonably priced, on the higher side, but reasonably presented and taste.

Potato Croquettes were well presented with a dip. This is good for 2 people as a starter.

Brushetta was a good flavour, but the bread itself was a little over crispy - could be shared between 2 people but small pieces.

Steak fried rice to me was tainted by the way it had been cooked. Could be shared between 2 people of if needed.

Thai red curry - i asked for it to be spicy - it was not and only jad small chillis to try to make it spicy - the taste overall all though was OK. This could be shared between 2 people if you do bot eat alot.

Base burger was basic but very well presented and suitable for 1 person.

Boss Burger - wow - presented well and quite a challenge for 1 person.

Ceasar Salad was well presented and ideal for 2 people.

The Crab and Cirn soup could suit 4 people - 1 bowl each.

Would i recommend? Yes give it a go.

We are from Manila and was passing through Lipa for lunch so we decided to stop over Base Cafe - Steakhouse for lunch. We ordered the Ribeye steak for P1,990 and the scallops for appetizers. Given the price of the steak and given that this place specializes in steak, we were expecting quality meat. Disappointingly, the ribeye served to us was full of fat… it was also unevenly cooked wherein some parts of the meat were difficult to chew while some parts were dry. It was an effort for my husband and I to finish one whole serving (we didn’t finish it..). The steak is comparable to the ones you could buy off facebook marketplace. @ Base cafe’s price of P1,990, this is not far off the price of well known steak places in Manila so we really expected more. As for the scallops, it was around 400+ for 14(?) small pcs which i feel is also overpriced.. We were expecting bigger pcs at least..

To add, the place is Al fresco and there are many flies present but at least they’re doing their best to manage this (ie by adding candles and fly repellent fans). We hope that the quality of food could...
