I've been eating at Spice Jar for years. We've been here when they started and I'm so sad to say that at this point, this joint is already overrated.
First off, I don't understand why it's so extremely damp inside the restaurant. I get that they're trying to save electricity, but there's no windows inside. It's not al fresco dining. The staff needs to be informed about the "heat" situation before they changed anything. And when they did, the aircon was adjusted from 26 degrees to 24 degrees. So, after they turned it "DOWN," after a few minutes, another table finished near us and the staff moved the temperature of the airconditioner again to 26 degrees. There were at least 7-8 table still eating at the joint. No fans were turned on. Nothing.
I think the hubris got to the management who thinks they can just treat customers like this simply because they're big enough to not even bother about customers' dining experiences. Though the food is okay, we simply couldn't enjoy the whole trip simply because it was SOOOOOOOO DAMP inside. Mind you, we ate during lunch hour, so you can only imagine how hot it was at the time.
Next is, the staff. Though we had a wonderful, wonderful waitress during this specific luncheon, we had two different instances when the manager and the waiter were ignoring us.
FOOD. Let's talk about food. Though some tastes were still pretty standard, same as when they opened up years ago, I didn't see much improvement on the menu items. Some items are still pretty good like the quesadilla and the chicken poppers, but the steaks are just "meh." Though they have a disclaimer that food is not cooked right a way, we had trouble as a group dining in since only half were served during the first 15 minutes, and we had to wait another 15-20 just so the rest of us could start eating together. Serving sizes are still pretty good.
Last complain is their dessert "donuts." I get it. It's a marketing thing to sell the donuts in assorted boxes, but seriously, what's the point of placing in all the flavors and independent prices if we can't even buy them one-by-one.
Overall, it was a really unpleasant experience. We spent $$$ for this one lunch and most of us ended up sweaty. Yeah, we were full (we ordered a lot), but this will probably be the last time we eat...

Usually, there’s a flock of customers in Spice Jar. They have a limited parking space. Thankfully, when we visited, there’s an open parking slot.
I like how vibrant the place is. Being a Tex-Mex restaurant, they kept the spot colorful, making it appealing to the eyes.
They have loads of food options as well (please refer to the photos of the menu attached). It would probably take you time to pick an order.
I ordered the Mexican Burger. I was almost finished with the dish when I saw a strand of hair trapped in the patty. We called the staff out and had the item replaced. The crew members were courteous enough to prioritize the re-order. Sanitation should be of high essence in restaurants. I hope instances like this will be prevented in the future.
That wasn’t the first time we visited the place. My other dining experiences were pleasant, to say the least. If you’re craving Tex-Mex food while in Los Baños, then better try Spice Jar. It’s ideal for dineouts with family and friends, too.

Read moreSpice Jar is a medium-sized restaurant serving Tex-Mex food in Los Baños, Laguna. It has very nice interior details worthy of instagram shots. Attention to details in interiors are superb. From the facade up to the wash basin near the el baño (lavatory).
A staff greets you as you enter the establishment. They will assist you where you want to be seated. You can choose on sitting on the ground floor or at the loft. The stairs leading to the loft have small steps, so be careful if you have big feet.
Food is reasonably priced. They have semi-affordable meals for students at a price point of 125 to 195. They have a considerable variety of food choices from appetizers, salads, mains, and desserts.
The food we ordered tastes great. I would love to come back here for the interiors...
