First, I love Tenya, we go to the branch at Market!Market!. That said, I thought the service and quality of food would be the same.
Last night (Jan. 29) service was terrible. We had to wait for over 40minutes for the food to be served. There weren’t a lot of people, and one group left because they were given menus but no waitstaff had taken their order.
Second, the waitstaff did not explain anything. We opted to be seated outside and the waitstaff were scarcely seen. There were three groups of us seated outside and a person from each group had gone inside to talk to the waitstaff - anyone - to follow up the food.
Third, our food came in batches and they were cold. The husband had the wagyu sent back which was promptly heated in the microwave. The server told us that he heated it himself.
My order - prawn tempura - was ok but the rest of my food was dry. My husband ordered the wagyu special bento, and there was no potato salad but until my husband asked about it, no one had come out to explain that it was not available. The wagyu was probably cooked earlier than the tempura so it got cold.
Food was dry. Service was terrible. Poorly handled. Waiting time was the worst - we should have looked at the tables and people waiting with nothing on it and it should have put us on guard. This was perhaps the worst experience I had in a restaurant for a long time. Let’s hope that Tenya Tiendesitas changes its processes and improve. We will not be going back to this branch...
Read moreWe came in around 1pm. There were lesser customers But the place looked like they just finished serving the lunch rush as there unbussed tables.
It was my first time trying Tenya. I got Asakusa Special Teikoshu which includes tiger prawns tempura, green beans, rice, potato salad and miso soup. The tempura batter tasted okay, but I thought I was getting larger prawns because the menu described it as black tiger prawns.
My mom ordered Gyo Ramen set. Broth could taste better as I have tasted better tasting tonkotsu broth.
Food taste was not bad. Taste is typical Japanese.
We wanted coffee jelly for dessert but it was not available. We just got Tenya Affogato insead. I did not like the experience because it was just hot drip coffee and vanilla ice cream. It could have been served better rather than topping a hot drip coffee with ice cream. The drink was sudddenly lukewarm.
Staff were okay. I think they were shortstaffed but they serve our orders in less than 10 minutes.
Tenya in Tiendesitas is PWD friendly and has ample parking...
Read moreI ate here a few months ago. The ambiance was great, but the place seemed short-staffed. Their cold ramen was overcooked, fluffy, and sticky, and it didn’t taste good. Honestly, I would have had a better experience just eating jasmine rice with any basic soup compared to their overpriced and poorly prepared cold ramen. I shared my disappointment with the staff, especially since it’s a Japanese restaurant where a higher standard of quality is expected.
I had also just come from a medical therapy session and was looking forward to a replenishing meal. Even though I was tired and hungry, which would normally make any food taste better, it still did not deliver. That speaks volumes about the quality...
