We dined here today at 2pm, and honestly, it was one of the worst experiences Iâve had in a restaurant.
Scenario 1 â Food Safety Issue Just about 10 minutes after we started eating, I saw a mouse đ run from another groupâs table towards ours. I immediately told my companion, who reported it to one of the staff. The crew stopped what she was doing, left, then came back and continued as if nothing happenedâno feedback, no reassurance. Later, when she served our soup refill, I asked if she told the manager. Her reply shocked me:
âYes po, dibale maâam, madami naman kaming mouse trap.â
Seriously? Thatâs the solution? Just rely on mouse traps? No apology, no concern. Itâs like seeing a rodent inside a dining area was a normal thing for them.
Scenario 2 â Discount Handling When we asked for the bill, the cashier came to our table and said, âAy meron pong senior discount diba?â I clearly told her, âNo, PWD po ang nakasulat.â She just ignored it, no reaction, no apology, nothing. Very rude and inattentive.
Scenario 3 â Managerâs Response Since we had to pay by card and the signal was weak at our table, we went to the cashierâs post. I personally asked the chubby guy manager: âKailan kayo nag-pest control? Kasi bakit naman may tumatakbong Mickey Mouse sa lobby niyo?â His reply in shock, unaware of the incident, whereas prior, the crew in scenario 1 told us that she already informed her manager. âSaan po?â I told him that his staff already knew and informed him. He checked the table, then went back to his office. Thatâs it. No explanation, no apology, no follow-up to us.
My Overall Impression After three different incidents, nobodyâNOT ONE staff or managerâapproached us to apologize or address what happened. It felt like they had no training, no sense of accountability, and no concern for customers at all.
Food safety is no joke. If this happened to them while they were dining, would they also just brush it off? To the management of Tong Yang, nationwide, please train your staff and managers properly. The lack of professionalism and empathy is very disappointing.
I will never come back here again, nor will I recommend this place to any of my...
Read moreThis is our go-to grill and shabu-shabu restaurant because it's near our village. I can't even count how many times we've eaten at your Feliz branch. My only complaint here in Tong Yang is their paper-thin meat slices, they're so thin that they're almost see-through. I hope next time they make the cuts thicker đ I also didn't like their tempura section, if you don't ask for shrimp tempura, they won't give it to you, the cook hides the tempura haha! I can't understand why they need to hide it when shrimp tempura is included in what we paid for. I don't get the logic behind it haha!
As for the staff, the dining staff now are better, they move quickly and approach us promptly, unlike your previous staff who would ignore us even after calling them 4 times or more until we approached them. I hope it continues like this so we won't get annoyed with your dining staff anymore.
Also, in the three times I've eaten there, the staff disturb the guests just to ask for reviews on Google, Facebook, and Yelp. Can't they do that after eating? Like while waiting for the bill, approach the guests to ask for a review. There are no authentic reviews here because you're watching while the guests are rating. That's why I only rated now because I don't want to rate while eating and while you're watching. And FYI, your service isn't technically finished yet, so don't ask for a rating in the middle of our meal. So there, you got my rating, 3 stars.
I hope you improve the concerns mentioned here, because I've read your low-rating reviews and they're all complaining about your "paper-thin" meat. I hope the management can find a way to make...

And I must say very good service, in spite of it being both pandemic & holiday season. Service crew are not free-roaming and are situated in their own stations, so it's easier to get free soup, meat and seafood refills. Floor is also filled to only 2/3rds of seating capacity, so not so crowded.
Staff are still friendly, even after asking for multiple refills (yes, ate on the meat & seafood station, that's you đ!)
Ready to eat dishes, although limited, were tasty and good to eat while waiting for your soup to boil. The maki on the other hand seemed to be prepared last night as the rice was already gritty (but we were not there for the maki, so it's ok).
Meat and seafood selection had enough variety. If you go through each one, you'll find yourself consuming the allotted 3 hours. My soup selection (mala spicy) was spicy enough but would have enjoyed the shabu-shabu more if the dips and sauces had more variety to mix & match, also to often top-up the sauces.
Desserts (puddings & cake) were blah, same for all viking group restaurants. So their ice cream was a better option.
Lastly, a word of advice (as it was my first time to eat there), ask for the thin beef slices and lettuce by the carving/slicing station as it is often out and you would think it...
