The name of the place threw us off and turned us off from trying it initially. Good reviews gave us the ehem courage to finally try it. The security guard at the shared parking behind the resto tried to force us to purchase at Starbucks because according to him, the slots left were for Starbucks customers. We saw some Giyummy employees and asked them for assistance and they were quick to respond that there was still a slot we could use so that we could park free of charge. That guard was trigger happy with his parking ticket, but sorry, not today, son.
Giyummy has the standard items that you would expect from a samgyeupsal joint. They have a good selection of pork and beef, some marinated, some seasoned only. They also have chicken, which my sister appreciated. They also have fluffy egg, soup, cheese, corn, fish cake, kimchi, salads, onion, potato chips, etc. The meat and flavors are very good (only thing missing was gochujang). Some of the flavors were a bit sweet. They also have refillable iced tea.
While you eat, you are entertained by the huge t.v. screens playing Youtube videos; but if you prefer to choose your own entertainment, they provide Wifi access.
My most favorite aspects of my dining experience in Giyummy would have to be: They are open 24/7. No need to rush. The staff are attentive. I mean ATTENTIVE.
We were impressed, although admittedly a little overwhelmed, by how earnest and ready to assist their staff are. We have been to several competitors at different price ranges and degrees of popularity. Compared to ALL of them, the crew's attentiveness and speed of service make Giyummy a legit competitor indeed! We are definitely coming back soon with family...
Read more2022 Dec 9, updated review.: Service is still 5/5, staff are consistent, attentive, and very kind. Food is better this time compared to the first time I dined here few months ago. Both pork and beef were really tasty! Side dishes was less, no japchae :(. Steamed egg still tasted 'meh' for me. Cheese tasted a little saltier idk why but its better compared to my first time. Side dishes were good, few but tasty. They have free iced tea too.
Rating 4/5 now, I think side dishes and ventilation could be improved.
The smoke were all over the place my eyes started hurting, we were at the 2nd floor.
Very kind, approachable, and attentive staff. They change the grill a lot, unlike in other samgyup restos where you have to ask. Side dishes were okay, nothing fancy. Soup was good, not the usual doenjang you'd get - i think its egg drop soup with beef base, very tasty. Corn was delicious, i think they mixed it with some cream. Egg was too bland for my taste. Tasted the kimchi before the grill was opened and it was good but when it got heated the taste kinda disappeared, would suggest asking them to just give you kimchi on a small plate/bowl. Cheese was mozzarella, it was nice but i prefer cheese used in other restos. Iced tea is unlimited and self-service, they had apple and lemon flavours when I visited. Meat quality is good but underwhelming. You would definitely appreciate the sauces and...
Read morePlace is not so well maintained and keeping it neat and clean is barely passing. Though, thier meat items is satisfactory and I recommend the wine samgyupsal as for me it is their best item yet. Other items is delectable as well. Charcoal is being used in grilling to promote that savory smoky flavor complementing your meat items. Thier sides is quite remarkably tasty as well. But thier soup is very good too and you will be served with 2 soup variants instead of one so its a plus for me. Affordable and fair price for 499 per person for good meat cuts and marinades. But hopefully they can work on thier cleanliness in terms of maintenance as the building is not somewhat new anymore and it is quite aried as their air-conditioning systems lacks the chill to cool down the entire floor area. Specially dining customers are grilling on the tables so there's an added heat so to speak. The only cool place is thier front desk as where the staff stays as one whole ac tower is fixed on that area alone so guests settles for a few other ac towers (which one tower is set on 33 celsius, i think its broken though) for a large floor area.
