The incident that unfolded at the Goldilocks branch in Fairview Center Mall left me utterly dismayed and seething with anger. It was a seemingly innocuous visit, merely to place an order for a cake to commemorate my sibling's birthday. Little did I anticipate the disdainful treatment we would receive at the hands of one particular employee.

The clock had just struck 11 pm when we entered the store, hopeful and expectant. My mother, ever the courteous customer, approached the counter with a simple inquiry: the price of a cake. A reasonable question, one would think, considering the absence of any visible price tags. However, what followed was far from reasonable. Instead of a polite response or even a courteous acknowledgment, we were met with a barrage of rudeness and contempt.

The employee in question, identified as Khrizel Joy de Jesus, displayed a level of hostility that was frankly shocking. Her demeanor was abrasive, her words dripping with sarcasm. In a moment of sheer audacity, she even took it upon herself to comment on my appearance, suggesting that my frown indicated premature aging. The sheer gall of such a remark left me speechless, my cheeks burning with indignation.

But the indignities did not end there. Oh no, they were merely the beginning. As if to compound our humiliation, Ms. de Jesus saw fit to share our plight with her colleague, who joined in with equal fervor. The two of them, oblivious to the discomfort they were causing, openly mocked us, their laughter ringing through the store like a cruel echo.

It was a moment of sheer disbelief, a surreal tableau of disrespect and contempt. Here we were, loyal customers seeking nothing more than a simple transaction, and yet we were treated as though we were inconveniencing them. The sheer injustice of it all was enough to make my blood boil.

And then, as if to add insult to injury, we discovered that our order had been ready all along. Not a word of apology, not a shred of remorse. They simply handed it to us, as though nothing had transpired, and bid us farewell with all the warmth of a winter frost.

In the aftermath of this ordeal, I find myself torn between righteous anger and profound disappointment. Anger at the flagrant disregard for basic courtesy, disappointment at the erosion of common decency. This is not the kind of treatment one expects from a reputable establishment like Goldilocks.
