A weekend get-together with friends led us to 717 Deli, a spot we were intrigued to try. The interior was tight but adequately lit once you went up the stairs.
We ordered the following:
Philly Cheesesteak (₱450) The caramelized onions and the roll were a great combination, although the sliced beef was a bit dry for my preference. The pickles on the side were a nice touch for those who like them. Despite having two different cheeses, it didn't feel like enough.
717 Cheeseburger (₱300) The large portion size is a plus, whether you're very hungry or want to share it with friends. The burger was well-seasoned, juicy, and meaty. The bun was soft, toasted, and held the juicy burger well. Gela mentioned she would have liked lettuce for added balance and crunch.
Cheesy Fries (₱200) Despite being drenched in cheese, the fries weren't overly salty. The fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. We would have enjoyed it more if the portion size was larger.
Our gathering at 717 Deli was enjoyable despite a few flavor misses in some of our orders. I'm keen to return for the Halibut sandwich and fish and chips. They also have a condiment bar for those who want to customize their orders, and there is no service charge.
Verdict: Babalikan for other menu items like the Halibut sandwich and...

They serve one of, if not THE BEST, sandwiches and burgers I’ve had… ever. You have restos that serve good burgers on top of everything else they have in their menu, and you have 717 deli that has almost perfected everything on their menu hahaha big words, but hope it says a lot about this place and how much I enjoyed their food.
I’ve lived in San Juan for more than half my life and have only heard of this place recently! A bunch of my friends recommended it and it definitely exceeded our expectations. Their breads made in-house were to die for too!
We ordered the fish and chips, 717 cheeseburger, patty melt, and Philly cheese steak!
The cheeseburger was hearty and flavorful, I just requested for some ketchup and had some jalapeños from the Philly cheese steak. The patty melt was quite similar to the cheeseburger in flavor, just with different bread, but still very good! The Philly cheese steak was tender and, like everything else, super flavorful! Lastly, the fish and chips were probably the best I’ve ever had. The batter was perfect and light, fish perfectly salted and flaky.
The owners were also super kind and even gave us complimentary doughnuts (yum!!).
Will definitely be back 👏🏻 too good...

We don’t have a lot of sandwich places here, and as for restaurants that do serve them, I noticed that they tend to mask subpar recipes and ingredients with a ton of cheese and butter (cop outs).
Deli 717, however, is nothing like that. I don’t know any other place that serves the selection of sandwiches they sell. So far, I’ve had the roast beef sandwich (9.5/10), patty melt (8/10) and mortadella supreme (9/10) and they were all amazing.
Everything from the breads and sauces were made with the highest quality ingredients and there was no skimping on any part of it. Not too saucy, not too salty, fresh, well-balanced, gets you full but doesn’t leave you feeling disgusting. I have endless good words.
I just wish the place was bigger and didn’t close too early (they close at 7pm). Maybe a branch in Makati or BGC? A bit pricey but so worth it. I’ll be returning for the philly cheesesteak and halibut fillet. I’ve heard many good things.
A gift from the sandwich gods. Highly recommend.
Will update this review when I’ve tried the other sandwiches and have more photos.
Update: Tried the philly cheesesteak sandwich and it was sooo good!! I could eat...
