The food was good and some of it had a twist to make the food unique to Xiu, but something felt lacking in flavor or taste for some of the dishes we ordered.
Note: Parking may be difficult here so try to come early if you want less hassle.
The Hot Prawn Salad was yummy and delicious and I would recommend ordering this here. It was flavorful and great to eat.
The Suckling Pig was also great with it being crispy on the skin and tender on the meat. It was well-seasoned that even without hoisin sauce, one could eat it. It came with jellyfish as well to cleanse the palette before eating more of the suckling pig.
The crispy noodles with prawns was great. The noodles were very crispy and tasty. But I felt the sauce was lacking, that as I ate it, I didn't want to eat much of the sauce.
The fish we ordered didn't really have anything special to it. The sauce may have been too light. Nothing else much I can say about it.
The dessert was like a pannacotta mango sago fusion. It was okay. It felt lacking in both the pannacotta flavor and the mango sago flavor.
*we ate again in November and quick summary. The Sate beef was great and addicting to eat; it is a must try. The balsamic pork and the xo sauce radish cake was good too. I would say avoid the egg white and scallops though because the texture is off-putting and the taste isn't good. Also the taro wasn't really good for me also, there was a sour tone to the taste that was...
Read moreWe had a delayed celebration of Father’s Day and birthday at Xiu - Greenhills. The restaurant is a fine Cantonese dining place. Reservation is a must as the place is always full. We tried to eat there during actual Father’s Day and it was fully booked. The place has limited parking across the street and expect to double and triple park. But they have attendants to inform other customers to move their car so you can pull out.
Now to the food. The selections are quite opulent. Prices are on the high side. The quality of the dishes are almost second to none. Some dishes need to be ordered in advance. We ordered right there and the waiting time was reasonable.
We had the following: their signature soy sauce chicken in hot pot, sweet sour pork, hot prawn salad, fried squid with chili and salt and the yangzhou fried rice. All wee superb except for the sweet and sour pork. The highly recommended are the chicken, prawn salad and rice. Serving was generous except for the prawn salad. And it was the most expensive of the dishes. We had leftovers as a sign that the size is good for 6 and we were 5.
Service was impeccable. We had constant refill of water, tea and appetizers. The food came one after the other. Payment processing was fast.
Highly recommended if you want to splurge...
Read moreTo start off, SLOW SERVICE. 1 main dish 1 rice dish took more than 30 minutes to serve but servee was apologetic about it 0lus servers are attentive, its just that the food took too long to cook.
SWEET AND SOUR PORK not really an authentic chinese one. It has a fried outer skin and the pork itself inside the large crispy outer skin is SMALL. Doesn't even taste good for the price even if the serving is a lot.
Yangzhou Fried Rice is just mid or just ok. It's nothing special or shocking, just your typical fried rice but wished they gave us chili sauce without us needing to request to them for it to pair with the fried rice just like a lot of people want.
Atmosphere gets a five because of the cold air-conditioning, clean interior and high ceiling for the main entrance.
Overall, if you want snappy service that will serve within 10-15 minutes like all typical chinese restaurants do then this might not be for you. If you expect an authentic chinese food taste or experience, you night wsnt to sit this one out(find a different chinese resto like gloria maris or choi garden which are both located within the area of this restaurant). Cooking speed needs to be faster with the amount of customers they're accommodating. Servers' service is on point; very accommodating...
