I went to Deli de San Honore with high expectations. They were kinda fulfilled when it came to the food, but when it came to service, that's where I'm taking stars away from them.
I asked for a reservation via Facebook Messenger, and they replied fairly quickly. When we got there, there were only 3 tables occupied including the big separated one next to the brick oven. Despite asking for our party of 12 to be seated next to each other if possible, they gave us tables that were back to back to each other. The person I was speaking with on Facebook did say they'd put us in separate tables, but when we got there there were only 3 other parties dining, so it was disappointing that we couldn't get a big table for our party and converse as we dine.
The food was good BUT the service was terrible. Granted, we came here on 28 December, so a few days after Christmas, so they might have been understaffed, but it would have been nice if they'd given us a head's up about what's happening with our orders. It took almost an hour for our pizza to be served to us (just one pizza), and then even more time for the mains to arrive.
When the mains arrived, they sent ahead the salads that came with the pork chops ahead...and we waited for a quarter of an hour longer to get the pork chops that came with the salads. It was such weird timing.
We had to flag the servers several times for water, only to get no water at all. I had to get up several times to go to the counter, request for water, and do the same thing again because it seemed like you had to request for water several times just to get it. I felt like I had a workout just from that alone.
The place is nice, and the food is good and I'm okay with their prices. It's just the dismal service that makes me not want to recommend it to other diners. Again, not sure if it's just the holidays, but we would have appreciated follow ups on orders and even basic requests like water to be served to us after a couple of requests.
Pork chops: 4/5 Pumpkin soup: 4/5 Indian buttered chicken: 5/5 Stuffed chicken breast: 3/5 (chicken itself is okay, mashed potato was rubbery) D Deli's pizza: 3.5/5 (it was alright, but nothing to write home about)
NOTE: Based on a previous reviewer, I asked for the pork chops to be cooked a little longer than they usually are. Some bits were still tough but overall it was good. Any less cooking and it would have been less done than we...
Read moreFound this place by recommendation, it's not easy to spot so it's a total hidden gem. Upon arriving, someone will assist you with parking which was nice but seems like they have such a small parking space because the place is located in a small street. The place felt like the fancy "presko" break you needed from this unbearable heat, it's an indoor-outdoor setup if that makes sense. One thing we wished with the ambience was mood music, it was a little too quiet there aside from the faint chatter of the diners. Staff were kind and fast, our food came at reasonable time after ordering.
Our favorite here was the pizza, it was extremely good! We ordered the D' Delis, the pizza dough was cooked to perfection in a brick oven and the taste of the toppings were well-balanced. I could probably eat the whole thing by myself if I didn't have another order, size-wise it was large and had about 8 slices. I had the Chocnut BBQ Ribs which wowed me in both presentation and quality. It came on a mini-grill that had actual charcoal so the ribs kept warm throughout me eating the whole thing. The french beans, daikon, and carrot were a good touch to keep you from getting 'umay' from the flowing ribs sauce. The ribs were so tender and had humongous portions, the sauce I don't know why but started tasting a little peanuty but no complaints it was really good. I was able to taste my companions' orders, they had the Home Cured Bacon Steak which was a pretty thick cut and came with fried egg, it was good and wasn't too salty like some generic bacon. The Indian buttered chicken was great and perfectly paired with the sourdough naan. Lastly the Classic Carbonara, this was a little underwhelming because it was a little bland, maybe overwatered, it was good but didn't have a wow-factor though the guanciale was great.
Overall this is one of the best places I ate at in Tagaytay and wish I knew about this place sooner. Prices are definitely reasonable and worth it especially looking at the food portions. Can't wait to try the porkchop that I saw on the other table! As well as try their mouth watering desserts on display that I wasn't able to try due to time...
Read moreOh, how I love this place.
The ambience gives off rainforest, cavern, mossy, but not damp, with fairy-tale sprinkles all around it.
I order the signature porkchop twice now. It's as plump, juicy, savory, and filling as ever! No regrets ordering it. The fat around just bursts into juices when you bite into it. The meat has flavors injected within them. Well seasoned and served hot with garlic rice and pickled cucumber as sides.
I also tried their smoked bacon strip. Sweet, savory, and of course bacon-y! I can really taste/smell the smoke. Also served with rice and pickled cucumber.
We had their mozzarella cubes as starters. I liked it. But not enough for me to describe it fully.
Tried their iced tea, well worth it. Delicious and quenching! Sweet and lemony, but not the sachet taste.
Sevice was excellent. Staff was friendly and attentive. They also serve here complementary bread and butter.
Parking is not that much, roadside. This place is a "special trip" because it's not on the main road and you really have to go here just for the place. Well worth it though.
They accept cash, gcash, bank transfer.
Although a little bit on the expensive side, I wouldn't mind coming back again, not just daily. Around 600-800 per person.
Food - 9/10 Place - 9/10 Price - 8/10 Service - 8/10
Overall I'd give it an 8.5. Solid would recommend you try it...
