[Oct 2024] Recently had the chance to drop by Tropical Hut again after 4 years and the Tropical Hut Supermarket is now an SM Hypermarket (whut da??) Good thing they kept the Tropical Hut Hamburger joint. Changes after the pandemic years aside, it is good to know that Tropical Hut still serves their Classic Burger (maybe a little bit smaller (?) but not as bad as McDo or Jollibee's shrinkflation). And yup, they still have mustard (upon request) and rootbeer. Hooray! (Have they always had rootbeer float? In any case, double hooray!) Well done, Tropical Hut! Very well done!
[Jan 2020] With the news that Jollibee is discontinuing its Champ and Big Burger Steak (Jan 2020), it is heartening to know that Tropical Hut Classic Burger is still going strong. Urban legend has it that the Champ was actually a direct copy of the Classic, after Jollibee pirated Tropical Hut's chief chef (is that how they're called?). Not sure how factual, but it kinda rings true as Tropical Hut was already existing even before Jollibee got big. It was THE place to be (apologies to Cindy's). Tropical's Hawaiian Glee (and the Rancho Ranchero) predates Jollibee's Amazing Aloha. And correct me if I'm wrong, also the Burger Steak and the Stir-fried Beef meal. So it kinda makes sense for Jollibee to pay "homage" to Tropical Hut's great burger offerings. Not to take anything away from Jollibee -- they're still THE quintessential pinoy burger joint. But how can one not love Tropical Hut? They still serve mustard (upon request)! And rootbeer! And this branch is open 24/7! Since as far back as I can remember, for more than 30 years (give or take), Tropical Hut in Taytay has been a friendly, proverbial third place to residents east of Manila, providing a welcome oasis to commuters who brave the perennial hell that is Ortigas Ave. Ext. traffic, day in and day out. Especially after their EDSA cor. Ortigas Ave. branch closed soon after (or was it before?) the EDSA revolution of '86. With its kiddie playground and welcoming mascot beckoning passersby to come in and stay a while, Tropical Hut is for everyone longing for the good ol' days, when fastfood was uncomplicated and straightforward and you get what you pay for. None of those add-ons BS. Wow, this review quickly turned into a long, rambling, nostalgic rant (or rave, depending on your point of view). Anyway, to get back to the point: Tropical Hut Hamburger good....

Tropical Hut Taytay, February 2021
Food 👍👍👍👍👍 5 of 5 The orders were served quickly, food hot, drinks ice cold. Sanitized utensils.
Must try: burgers, palabok, dinuguan
Ambience 👍👍👍👍👍 5 of 5 The seats are comfy. Standard Tropical hut interior concept. They don't have acrylic dividers but they practice distancing and cleaning.
Accessibility 👍👍👍👍👍 5 of 5 Direct parking 🚗 wheelchair ramp ♿ at the ground floor what's to complain about. Separate toilet 🚻 for male, female, and pwd.
Cost 👍👍👍👍👍 5 of 5 The prices are not extravagant and the portions are big. "Abot kayang sarap na nakakabusog."
Service 👍👍👍👍👍 5 of 5 To be fair this is my first visit since pandemic 2020. The staff were polite. The order was accurate and served fast. Mostly self service, but overall they were okay.

They also renovated the interior to make it more modern but it needs a mascot or branding to compete with other popular fastfood chains. There used to be a door that leads to Grocery owned by them before into SM Hypermarket, it looked dilapidated.
them I highly reccomend eating here.
Old Review: The way the food is presented is very dated, the burger is still in wrapped in tinfoil and oily, the meat looks like always about to seperate in pieces. No parking if you're on a bike you have to chain to the...
