My aunt invited me for lunch to Buongiorno. After reading the mixed reviews, I was a bit hesitant but willing to give it a try. I'm so glad I did! We walked in and immediately I got a welcoming vibe. The walls are full of vintage family photos, pictures of different Italian cities, and of course, Sophia Loren. The tabletops are colorfully tiled, and bright cushions keep you nice and comfy. There's good lighting and really feels like a true Italian family restaurant. You can also sit outside on a fairly large deck. A delightful gentleman who I understood to be the owner was eating at a table when we entered and greeting us warmly. The air condition was turned on for which we were molto grateful. I looked at the menu online when I read reviews so I knew what I wanted to try. To drink, we had the fruit lemonade. It was refreshing, citrusy, and slightly sweet. Where some people can either add too much pulp, not enough sweetener, or too much, our lemonade was just right. Being American I like my lemonade super cold so I asked for a glass of ice and it was given to me with no issues. We ordered beef carpaccio as a starter, and gobbled it up in a few minutes. It was served with oil, parmesan, and arugula. The meat was super fresh. I enjoy pine nuts with my carpaccio, but that's a personal preference. For my main dish, I ordered gnudi with ricotta, spinach, walnuts, oil, parmesan, potatoes, and sage. These handmade dumplings were spectacular. My aunt had tagliatelle with smoked salmon, cream, chilli, tomatoes, garlic, and white wine. My aunt was equally impressed and I was as well after stealing a bite. The salmon was perfectly smoked. In addition, we enjoyed some delicious focaccia with green olives and rosemary. To whomever had a bad experience here, I recommend giving Buongiorno another try. The food was hot, we were served quickly, and everything tasted amazing. My aunt wanted to walk off all the pasta we inhaled so we stopped for coffee and dessert elsewhere, but that just gives me another reason to come back. My only recommendation would be to get some more Italian...
Read moreUnfortunately, I was deeply disappointed, and to avoid such letdowns like my experience yesterday, I advise everyone not to be swayed by the high rating of this gastronomic venue on Google. The restaurant is situated in a space where you can barely fit five tables. Every additional table creates congestion and a complete lack of intimacy. Customers sit so close to each other that you can hear almost every word uttered by those sitting at neighboring tables. It's impossible to place any bag, briefcase, or small backpack on the floor. Guests and waitstaff stumble over them. When there are more guests, there's nowhere to hang outerwear on the coat rack near the entrance.
The food is incredibly lackluster. The pizza crust somehow holds up, but the pizza itself is small, sparingly seasoned, and overly pricey. In the finest Italian restaurants in Warsaw or Wrocław where I've dined, pizza prices were lower or comparable, and we're talking about a masterful level of meal preparation. I also ordered a salad with arugula and melon, which I can say was prepared with fresh arugula, freshly cut melon, and strawberries. Unfortunately, that's the only positive aspect. The whole thing was drowned in a disgustingly sweet sauce, devoid of any hint of lemon juice or balsamic vinegar. This delicacy cost nearly 50 złoty. Additionally, I ordered a glass of red wine, which was of such abysmal quality that it warrants a warning rather than a charge of 25 złoty! Seriously, I don't know how this place earned 4.5...
Read moreMy 1st time there was FANTASTIC, and I really loved the food, the comfy aura and I was really eager to get back there soon. Well, my 2nd attempt was just warm and now, after the 3rd time there, it was just disappointing: I've had to kindly ask to get back cooking my pasta - because it was not al dente, but almost raw. My table was so small, I've had to move it's belongs to another spot, in order to have room to eat with comfort. Napkins, bread, everything pilled in, between us. Music was a bit loud and the table next to mine was hitting on my chair. I was planning to spend quality time there having some wine and dessert, but we decided to skip it and get back home early: even if we decided the opposite, there was A REALLY BIG handwritten sign in the middle of the desk, reminding me that my table reservation was valid UNTIL certain time of the night. I've never seen something like that on any other spot in the world. No kidding. Big bold letters. The tiramisu, the last time I've tried, it was really good, prices are fair and portion size as well, but so far, the impression unfortunately I've got it is a...
