It seems to me that Poznań is likely to have a lot of foreign visitors in the next couple of weeks because of the Euro 2012 football championships... so, a review in English:
Francuski Łącznik means French Connection. This is not exactly a restaurant, but rather a cafe, situated at the edge of the beautiful Solacki Park. The location of the cafe is probably the best thing going for it. For that reason, and for that reason alone, I have been to this cafe on many occasions and so feel qualified to comment.
Food: The cafe specializes in flans, tarts and quiches, many of which are pretty good, but none are exceptionally good. There are both sweet and savoury varieties to choose from. Of the sweet selection, I'd recommend the lemon tart and for the savoury, I'd say their spinach and cheese quiche is the best choice.
Drinks: Nothing to sing and dance about here. A very ordinary selection of teas, coffees, soft drinks and fruit juices.
Decor and facilities: There is pretty much nowhere to sit inside the bar itself, so most of the cafe is in the courtyard which is partly covered by a semi-permanent awning. The truly "outdoor" portion of the courtyard is supplied with wobbly tables and chairs. There are no toilets to speak of. The cafe introduced a portable toilet cubicle a couple of years ago and this stands in the courtyard by the gate.... rather close to the tables. Yuck. In the covered portion of the courtyard, there are better furnishings. Solid tables are a welcome change, though many of the (soft and comfortable) seats could do with some attention.
Service: The staff will not take your order at the table. You must go inside and join the queue to talk to the one or two harassed looking ladies behind the bar. Having placed your order and returned to your seat, you can expect to wait long enough to wonder if your order has been forgotten. In some cases, it will have been. When your food is brought to you, you will probably not get a smile or a kind word.
Cost: The food is not massively overpriced, though I think it is quite expensive for what you get, and for the amount of time it takes to dispatch your order to the table.
Summary: Nice location, handy for the park. Very edible but not exciting food and an ordinary selection of drinks. Staff are not very friendly, but not to the point of being rude. The price is a little too high for the quality of the...
Read moreThe place is cute, a bit old fashioned, close to the beautiful park nice to grab some desert/snack and a coffee/tea. Food is average, I ordered an apple pie and it was ok, served without any additional fancy ice cream or smth like that 😃 which is fine. The service could be better, the waitress was rather rude when we asked her to heat the pie a bit more as it was cold inside even though they made an attempt to warm it up before serving. Brought the plate back and just put it on the table the without saying anything. Nothing like - “here you go/enjoy”. We asked if they had a pumpkin spice latte - NO Maybe decaffeinated coffee - NO. All these answered without any smile or attempt to provide a welcoming service. This is a place where you pay upfront so I guess they don’t bother too much about the service they provide. Next time would go to Petit Paris which is 2 min away...
Read moreVery lovely place to try French tarts, both sweet (esp. the seasonal fruits are a gem) and savoury (they have some classics such as ratatouille or salmon & broccoli one), also great place for coffee. Located very close to the Sołacz park in rather upscale district with same name. There's an outdoor garden section and part located inside for cooler months. One huge and recurring (in opinions) diasadvantage: lack of real toilet. For years they just have a portable toilet outside with bad smell, nothing has changed in this matter. At this point a regular toilet is a must with so many customers! That's reason why I won't rate...
