So close to a 5, just fell short.
A hot Sunday with no reservation in the middle of the afternoon felt like exactly the wrong time to drop in for some food, however, we were pleasantly surprised when our very friendly server led us to a table in the garden within around 2 minutes. Great start!
The menu is enormous, although probably too big as it is hard to get everything right when you try to do so much. More on that later! The prices are extremely reasonable, especially given that Warsaw is fast becoming an outrageously expensive place to live, and the ice-cold and on-tap Brooklyn Lager hit the spot perfectly and checked in at a reasonable price too.
We ordered a Nachos starter and the chicken for our 1 year old. The nachos were fine, fresh and light with a nice homemade salsa. The chicken was seated for so long that it was basically impossible for our little one to eat as it was very tough. Trading her for some of our nachos and all was fine!
Then the main courses came, and the results of an over-ambitious menu were immediately on display. We ordered one of each steak, two of the more expensive options on the menu, and we ordered them both rare. Both were medium-well done and not desperately well seasoned either. The sirloin had a spice rub that seemed to include raw ground cumin that had not been cooked off enough and was basically dry with the overcooked steak following suit.
We will try again, as we really want this place to be great and giving it another chance is fair given the fantastic staff, location and prices.
If we enjoy a better experience, I will update my review to...
Read moreI was eager to go to this restaurant for two reasons. One being the American atmosphere and the second, american food. Both experiences met my expectations. Though why 3 stars? It would be needless to ask if you took a burger. Steaks? Yes! Ribs? Yes! Starters and soups? Definitely. Though if you ever would like to have a burger go to Bobby Burger or in fact any other burger bar. The bun is factory made like these you can buy in Tesco. The patty was dry. The sauces didn't amaze me much. Overall a McDonald's like experience. It is worth noticing that drinks here are very solid. Tips for the owner: get a bakery to bake you the buns, add more water in the meat and spice it up, use red onion instead of white, use homemade sauce from pickles and onion, make the coleslaw a bit less liquidy. I would love to come back here and enjoy a traditional...
Read moreThe welcome that started the Polish-American social and culinary adventure at Pink Flamingo was extremely warm. The owners welcomed each guest as if they were in their own home during a Christmas party. Ms. Marzena, the co-owner, made sure that everything was organized, exquisitely served and the dishes were prepared perfectly. We ordered Beef Fajita and it was a shock. The dishes were prepared not only perfectly, but identically to the well-known Tex-Mex from the heart of Texas. The service was excellent in every respect. Delightful conversations with Ms. Marzena, and her assurance that other dishes, such as beef tenderloin steaks, will also not disappoint the most demanding palates, made us look forward to our next visit to Pink Flamingo. Thanks to the owners and the entire team for a great evening. See you. ...
