Val L'amour — Restaurant in Warsaw

The staff was friendly, and we never had to wait long for our food, which was appreciated.

The atmosphere, however, was quite plain. While it was clean, the space could benefit from more plants or decorations to make it more inviting. The music was slightly loud but not so much that it interfered with our conversations.

The food itself was average. I had the mushroom soup, which I would rate 4/5, and the chicken as my main dish, which I would rate 2/5. While the chicken was cooked nicely, the portion was disappointingly small. I had expected roasted potatoes with the chicken but was instead served french fries. The fries were good, but not what I was hoping for. My wife ordered the duck, which was a letdown. In Poland, duck is traditionally served on the bone, and the sliced version we received lacked the flavor and presentation we expected.

The biggest issue with Val is the pricing. We paid over 400 zł for a meal without alcohol, which is excessive given the small portions and the unremarkable food. There are other restaurants in the area offering better food and atmosphere at half the price.

While we might consider returning to try something else on the menu, it would only be if they adjust their pricing to match the quality and portion sizes or elevate their food and atmosphere to justify the high cost. Without such changes, I doubt they will remain in business for long.

In summary, I left Val after a 400 zł meal still hungry and ended up making a 20 zł sandwich at home that tasted...

I had such a wonderful experience at Val L 'amour! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff made me feel right at home.
