Have visited this restaurant every single summer since it opened its doors, the original owners were always so helpful, accommodating, respectful and friendly. However what we experienced last week when we returned was so disappointing and quite shocking to witness. The running of this restaurant has been passed to their son, who blatantly mocked and made little of another customer to us. The customer was seated behind us and sent something back to the kitchen due to it not being cooked to their liking, the customer was apologetic and pleasant and the request seemed very polite and reasonable. Instead of being professional, the owners son came over to our table turned his back to the customer rolled his eyes, mocked and laughed at the customer and their complaint. We were actually horrified by such a lack of professionalism and of all the years visiting here and supporting this family run business frankly we thought it was a disgraceful disrespectful way to handle a complaint. Everyone is a paying customer and nobody should be subjected to that arrogance. It’s unfair to fall over the customers who say nothing but treat others like this. Definitely wouldn’t have ever happened with the owners years ago. So...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant three times when we were last here in September 2024. It was delightful and we thought it a real 'find'. So we could not wait to go ahead now we are back again. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. We ordered two Salmon mains and one Sea Bass. The fish was cooked beautifully but the vegetables were poor, cut very small and barely warm (reheated?). Not like last time at all. The bread for the couvert was dry. Most disappointing however was the service. Not one of the waiters spoke more than a coupe of words to us, they seemed not to know about the food they were serving or the English language. I know, we are in Portugal, but most decent restaurants have waiters speaking English. Last year we had the most charming and knowledgeable lady chatting to us each time we came. Also the prices seem to have increased considerably. Poor compared...
Read moreNice cute café, with parking and outdoor sitting. The menu is neverending, with several breakfast choices, from english to continental, light meal choices, as salads, omlets, sandwiches, etc., a few day lunch options, but mostly, desserts, their specialty.
The indoor space is well decorated in a light, feminine way, and outdoor sitting is conveniently surrounded by bushes and small trees. Space is super clean. It has a polite and friendly service. I do recommend their orange bread, which gives a nice twist to whatever dish it comes with. Or the traditional desserts. Or natural juices...
The "tomatadas algarvias" are a no-no, as they use canned tomato. In a land of tasteful tonate, that should go as a public offense.
Access to the car park is kind of hidden so one must pay attention...
