Laranjal — Restaurant in Albufeira

We are a mexican family visiting Faro, it took a lot of effort to understand what the restaurant had to offer as a lot of things they didn’t have and they have finish earlier. There was clear difference between regular costumers or locals and foreigners we ask for a specific dish that we later saw served to another person. Poor service, the place is old, but not old cossy, just old. A tray just next to our table with 4 wine bottles exposed full of dust, like a nightmare house. Food on average, probably best for Sardines and roast fish, as the cod we ordered was horribly desalted and cooked. I rarely buy salted cod because takes few days to unsalt it, changing the water a number of times daily. Well, they don’t care of it and charge good money as well. Vandaag wezen eten met gezin. Vrijwel leeg, terwijl alles in de buurt uitverkocht was. Ligt aan een weg die doorgaand is met voldoende parkeerplaatsen (als het leeg is...). Waarom het zo leeg was? Geen flauw benul! Vis uitkiezen die zonder overdrijving fantastisch is bereid. Carapau en zeebaars. De gegrilde kip was mals, prima ook. De Ameijoas a bulhão Pato heerlijk maar als enige gerecht veel en veel te duur. Zonder deze twee voorgerechten (twee maal dus Ameijoas) waren we met drankjes de genoemde vis en de kip en een lekker sla-tomaat-ui-salade en vier drankjes 43 euro kwijt. Dan hebben we echt, ook voor Portugese begrippen, heerlijk gegeten. Dus nee: waarom het zo leeg was, snappen we echt niet. Toiletten zeer schoon, netjes met zelfs een bidet. Zie ik in Portugal, Spanje en Frankrijk helaas nog steeds te vaak wel eens anders. Zelf ben ik Portugees en kom al talloze jaren in mijn vaderland op vakantie, mijn oma kookte voor restaurants etcetc. Kortom: ik ben echt wel wat gewend. Zonde om te zien dat dit restaurant met erg aardige bediening welhaast zieltogend eruit zag zo zonder noemenswaardige gasten....
