YOUR GUIDE TO THE BEACH: Long long plain sand beach in front of a very strong waves Atlantic ocean. Pretty like Lisbon style Ocean waves. Many people surf there, but we did not spot any surf school though. The beach is surrounded by falesias, which are sort of red dusty hills and rocks. Overall, the beach is very long, but just half of it is sandy, the eastern part results to be made of sand but mixed also with small stones. That part is less crowded but still okay. The beach is divided into four alternative parts: two are served by loaned sun umbrellas and sun beds, the other ones instead free, so you should remember to bring your own stuff. The sea is very wavy and is fun, although the water is not so hot as the Mediterranean one. We were there in mid August so we think one of the hottest months of the whole season. There are two small restaurant and bars in front of the beach, but we did not check prices. The first you come across arriving from the parking lot has paid showers, instead the further one on the east side of the beach has better restrooms and free showers, just for you to know. The place is accessible with cars but the street is a bit narrow and finding an available parking lot is not so easy. People told us also that if you want to use Uber to leave the place, you should walk above the parking lot and reach one of the streets, since the place is not so well mapped by the system and drivers get crazy trying to find you there, since the map takes them very far on the other side of the beach. Have fun and...
Read moreThis is not only a very beautiful beach, it is also functional. Very long and with good sand. Moreover, with the exception of a two to three hour high tide, it is quite possible to swim here. My video, taken at low tide, shows the reason for this - after a rather sharp descent, an almost flat sandy plateau stretches further. The waves calm down long before the shore, and the unusually calm water for the ocean makes it possible to take a good swim. Another plus is that this beach is clothing optional. Of course, it's too cold now to just sunbathe. But since I come to the beach primarily to exercise, I don’t get cold and often take the opportunity to undress. Playing sports naked is very pleasant, and the benefits of such activities are much higher. In short, this is a very nice beach, the best I've been to...
Read moreBarranco das Belharucas Beach marks the beginning of Falésia, it's one of the most sheltered from the wind and it's the only one with rocks near the shorebreak / bottom of the sea (so you need to take care with the rip currents and the waves). When you are faced to the sea (south), you can walk to Olhos de Água Beach trough the rocks or you can go to Vilamoura along the sand extension (5,5km). You have a lovely Restaurant named 'Golfinho' serving meals the whole day, toilet and shower facilities. The only counterpart of this amazing beach is the access (dirt road) and the parking lot (too small), so I recommend go by foot, bicycle...
