We enjoyed a very good lunch. The menu has few options but all of them (the ones we tried) were delicious! It is a restaurant with traditional Portuguese food with a special touch. It has some vegetarian options in the appetizers part. Although it is focused on meat, the fish options were very tasty and fresh. We had the ‘Folhas vegetais’ as appetizer and Bacalhao as main dish. The bacalaho was really good, it was made in the oven with a sort of creamy sauce and sweet potatoe and broccoli topped with broa gratin (corn flour crumbs) and it made for 2. The dessert was really special and good as well, we took the madronho pudding. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They helped with the recommendations and were very attentive at all times. The reason why the restaurant did not get the full score on my side is due to the prices. Although all of it was delicious, it is quite pricey for Portuguese standards. So far, it has been the most expensive village restaurant we went to. We did not regret to pay for it as everything was good and we had a great time, but this could be a stopper for other people.

Nice spot if you’re in the mood for tapas. We went for dinner and were welcomed with a small glass of sangria, which was a nice touch. They brought out the couvert (bread, butter, cheese, jam, olives, and salad) and asked if we wanted it — it looked good, so we said yes. We had the Iberian ham neck strips, Brazilian pastries, and stuffed potato — all of which were delicious. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much else we could order since most of the dishes were chicken-based, which we weren’t in the mood for. We considered the calamari, but it turned out to be frozen — more like the kind you’d find at a supermarket — so we skipped it. Service was really nice, but the prices felt a bit high for the portion sizes.

Calling all food adventurers! Assador Altinho in Odeceixe is a hidden gem perched atop the village that you absolutely can't miss. As a couple hiking the fisherman's trail, we stumbled upon this culinary treasure and were blown away. From the ethereal strawberry gazpacho to the succulent duck and tender octopus, every bite was a revelation. The indulgent desserts sealed the deal with a burst of flavor. This vibrant and modern restaurant provided the perfect dining escape. At 60€ per person, it was worth every cent for an unforgettable experience. Trust us fellow travelers, Assador Altinho is a culinary gem that will leave you craving more!

A restaurant that doesn’t care about the customer. In 2020 the management was great, equally the food was superb. However, management changed in 2021 at which point the overall size of the food, the quality of the ingredients, and the lack of customer care has drastically decayed.

The worst aspect of my last 2 experiences eating there was that, although I shared my observations as I mentioned above, and wrote the chef on their social media page, the response from the staff was, “sorry, different management before, nothing we can do about your observations”.

I want to support small business, and the individuals that create the eating experiences for the customer. However, it is unfortunate that the ethos of this restaurant went away with the previous owners. Now it is a trap to make money as I felt disregarded for my critical observations.

I don’t recommend the support of this...

Good food, poor service.

Everything we had tasted good

We were sat at a dusty table, which no one bothered to clean. The staff simply forgot about a quarter of our order: one main course, bread, grilled vegetables We waited for over an hour after the starters for the main course to arrive. The wines are very poorly presented on the menu. There's no description at all so we had to ask the waitress. Admittedly, we don't speak Portuguese. The wines were described to us as either "sweet" or "dry". We ordered a dry wine, which turned out to be way too acidic for our taste.

We got one desert (out of four) for free to make up for the long wait and the forgotten main.

All in all, Assador Altinho is not what it pretends to be. Value for money doesn't match the average in...
