We came to Taberna do Gabao on the last day of our Fisherman’s Trail hike and were lucky to get one of the few remaining tables. From the start, the atmosphere felt welcoming and special.
We ordered the carne de porco à alentejana, grilled black pork, and feijoada rica. Our server kindly suggested bringing them out one at a time, which made the experience even better. Each dish was full of depth and care—you could taste the rosemary, the clams, the tenderness of the pork. My husband and I looked at each other and said, “This might be the best meal of our lives.”

At the end, we thanked Sylvia and Marta, who introduced us to the chef and team. It felt like being welcomed into a family, and you can truly taste that in the food.
Thank you for the most unforgettable meal of our trip and one we will cherish...
Read moreThe place is a total RIP OFF and not worthy for your money. I ordered a steak which cost me €17.50 and the steak was very small. Portions are very small for what you pay. They call it the steak French style but there's nothing french about it. Just some grilled steak topped up with mushrooms. Not worthy for the money. Also my mates ordered the grilled squid to share for two people and they complained that there was only enough for one person when they paid over 30 euros for the dish. The "feijoada" was utterly over cooked that looked like a mess. And at the end the owner had the audacity to tell us that we took too long having our dinner and that they needed our tables to give to another customers. We arrived at half 7 and left by 9pm. We didn't realise that there was ticking clock counting our dinning time that we needed to eat our meal in a rush for them to get the tables free and make more profit. I definitely do not recommend this place and will never go there ever again. The place is just a...
