O Pinheiro — Restaurant in Almeirim

Ok, so we walked past two fully booked restaurants only to come across this little gem. At first, with only one table being occupied, we though like most would, let’s give this a miss, instead we checked online reviews and boy, are we glad we did! My wife and I ordered the grilled salmon and our two children had half a chicken between them. All meals were fit for a king and the children only managed half of their half a chicken. For drinks, we started with a large beer, water, and two iced teas, we also had a bottle of the ’ on offer’ Christmas red. Today I drove from Oeiras to Almeirim to have a meal @ O Pinheiro . I was served by a young men called Miguel Canico . He took the orders : Fish soup and barbeque code fish ( bacalhau assado com batatas a murro e migas ) The soup did not have enough fish . The cod fish was very salty and instead of a very good cod portion we got the fish tail . The "migas tasted terrible . I asked for red wine and tasted like vinagre . Called Miguel and showed him the spoiled wine . He told me twice that he informed the supervisor . He did not offer to change the wine.And the supervisor did not show up . Pinheiro is a fantastic restaurant of traditional Portuguese food! A great selection of meat and fish dishes are available as well as "prato do dia", always freshly prepared in the kitchen that can be seen as you pass by to reach your table. It is exceptionally busy, so arrive early or be prepared to wait! The environment is frenetic, with waiters rushing back and forth, Portuguese people chatting happily and loudly, the smell of roast meat and fish in the air!
