This gem of a tasca deserves all sort of detours due to an exceptional quality/price relations with honest home-cooked food. Not only do the make the delicious bread in-house, but you pass the busy kitchen entering the restaurant, that offers a limited classic menu with a good wine list (both at very fair prices) with fast and friendly service in a cosy typical ambiance.

We were 6 for lunch that shared couverts, a mixed Tabua, 2 servings of Sopa de Pedra with an excellent chilli, the house red, water and coffee...

Conheço este restaurante há mais de 20 anos e hoje foi, provavelmente, a última vez que o frequentei. Como é hábito, viajei de propósito a partir de Lisboa tendo reservado (2 dias antes) uma mesa para 4 pessoas. Perguntaram-me se pretendia almoçar às 12h00 ou às 13h30, tendo eu optado por almoçar às 12h00. Entrei pelas 12h05 e fui autenticamente "despachado" e obrigado a comer em "passo de corrida". Ainda comia a sopa da pedra e já me levavam a terrina para trazer o prato seguinte. Ainda comia o referido prato e já me perguntavam se desejava café ou sobremesa. Ainda comia o pudim e já me perguntavam se podiam tirar o café. Ainda bebia o café e já me perguntavam se podiam "fazer" a conta. Impressionante! Pelo meio, percebi que precisavam vagar a minha mesa pois estavam à espera de um grupo grande. Chegaram ao ponto de depositar uma pilha de pratos na mesa ao meu lado, à espera que eu saísse. Resultado: saí do restaurante pelas 12h55, descontente e desagradado com o atendimento. A funcionária respondeu-me que estava a cumprir ordens do patrão. Pedi para falar com o gerente. Respondeu-me que tinha de despachar os clientes pois tinha uma lista de espera grande e precisava das mesas. Não obstante a qualidade da confecção, que não critico, tal não justifica (de forma alguma) este tipo de atendimento. Conseguiram despachar-me mais rapidamente do que na cantina do local onde trabalho! Felizmente há alternativas em Almeirim, que em nada ficam...
