O Lagar — Restaurant in Arcos de Valdevez

Everything was just fantastic. There are tables set up outside, nicely distanced from each other (post-Covid, this is always good to know when dining out). We started with the pataniscas, which were fluffy, light, and flavorful. For the main dish we ordered the Cachena steak for two, with batatas ao murro, cooked veggies and rice. The steak was truly one of the best I’ve ever had, melt-in-your-mouth tender and perfected seasoned. If you’ve not tried Cachena beef (Portuguese/Galician breed of small cattle), you’re in for a treat. The bolo de bolacha (dense cake with cookies, cream and coffee) was delicious. Very poor cuatomer service. Me and my friend just wanted to sit down for some drinks and talk. First of all they brought a glass which was broken and I could have hurt myself. My friend went to a bathroom and then a big man came up to me and asked if I was going to eat anything or not because this place is a restaurant and you have to eat if you want to be there. It was the first time anyone has ever told me that. Moreover it's the south of Europe, don't most of the people just sit down to enjoy some drinks there? I was not even hungry and did not want to order anything to eat, so the waiters just kept staring at us, it was very awkward. Would not recommend...

A nossa experiência no restaurante O Lagar, em Arcos de Valdevez, não foi das mais agradáveis. Desde o início, o atendimento deixou muito a desejar – os funcionários foram rudes, de poucas palavras, e havia constantes reclamações entre eles, o que criou um ambiente desconfortável. Além disso, o empregado que nos atendeu limitou-se a indicar um lugar, sem sequer perguntar se havia alguma restrição alimentar. Como não como carne bovina, acabei por optar pelas pataniscas de bacalhau, que, infelizmente, tinham apenas o nome, pois praticamente não se sentia o bacalhau.

O meu marido pediu a posta de cachena, que, apesar de ter sabor, estava demasiado dura, tornando a refeição pouco agradável. O acompanhamento de arroz de feijão e legumes foi o ponto positivo da refeição, bem confeccionado e saboroso.

Na sobremesa, optámos pelo bolo de disco. Não foi das minhas preferidas, mas, sendo um doce típico da região, reconheço que tinha um sabor agradável.

A decoração rústica, com adereços ligados à vida do campo, é interessante e dá um toque tradicional ao espaço. Algumas mesas são partilhadas, mas, para nós, isso não foi um problema. O maior ponto negativo da visita foi, sem dúvida, o atendimento frio e desinteressado, aliado à carne demasiado dura. Para o que se come, achámos o preço elevado.
