I always attend for several meals at different times at a restaurant before reviewing; as one great meal or one bad meal cannot define a business. I love A Floresta and the team. Several evening meals where I must confess...hand on heart as a foodie, that the quality of the meat here (and generally here in Arcos de Valdevez- this Aussie’s new home) leaves even the best Tasmanian organic grass fed in the dust. I have rarely eaten better steak and prepared so perfectly as I have in our new town and country and here at A Floresta. My last jantar was a classic example. Ridiculously perfect steak that it almost cut itself to reach my mouth. That and sangria (because I love it) and fresh pineapple mousse. And the view and company perfect with my wonderful dog Mr Bear. Today was almoço. A fabulous huge, perfectly presented and prepared delight Of squid and prawn skewers with tender vegetables. Sangria (again) and mango mousse. This was a meal for two, but I haven’t eaten since yesterday morning and gave it a good nudge. Only left a few potatoes. The company of my little injured rose gold angel Mr Bear was perfect (and he had a little squid and prawn). Oh and served by the beautiful and very professional Senhora Andrea Santos. Thank you. Please if you are in my town do yourself a favour and try a superb...

Went there for lunch while I was visiting, after a local recommended the place. Had a grilled salmon, it was delicious. All of the meals we ordered were great actually. Staff was super helpful, kind and ready to serve, and always minding all the norms for prevention and higiene after this covid situation. The only thing I didn't enjoy is that they had a huge tourist group reservation (around 40 people) on the inside of the restaurant (we stayed outside), and to me it didn't feel like it was exactly safe or mindful taking into account the current situation of the world (covid-19). I get it business owners need to regain profit after all that was lost, I really do, but let's keep in mind the norms in place and the health and well being of everyone around, including the wonderful staff that was so willing to help and work under those conditions. Taking that out (which I assume is not an every day occurrence) and my opinion about it, loved it and would definitely go back if...

All in all its okey, but…. We asked for a steak medium rare and got medium done. It was still kinda okey and soft. I have asked for the sides to be changed, no potatoes and vegetables, instead - rice and salad without carrots (im alergic). I got the meal with sides I havent asked and they were quick to change it, but brought the salad with carrots. Lastly, the bill came at 45.50 , they dont accept cards (???) so i paid in cash, 51.00 in order to get 5 euro in notes. Somehow, the change came back at 5 euros and the bill’s amount was 45.00 Meaning they took that 1 eur just because. I know its small mistakes or small amounts of money but all in all it was an unpleasant experience. Please research a bit more (we didnt do it) and find a real authentic place with great food and low prices which is what this region is...

First good point is that the restaurant was open on Sunday evening. Then they had one waiter that spoke English, even if we could have gotten along with the Portuguese by showing in the menu. The atmosphere was very lively. In 2 minutes different couverts were on our table without asking for them, we turned down most of them. We took the pica na Chao, the house steak and wmyojg red wine. The wine was served from the fridge, around 4 degrees, when serving temperature was 14 degrees on the bottle. The food was great, big portions as well , the rooster dish very tasty, the steak full of flavour and juicy. We pad a fair price, except for the couverts we did not ask for.

I enjoyed the place, but I have to say that local and regular customers are preferred over tourists, something I noticed with me which I didn't enjoy. True the place was also full, but when you don't see a good system to control who arrives to be seated, well you see it all... Now about the food, I have tried one of the house specials, cachena sirloin steak, very tender and juicy meat, served with a rice with brown beans and some herbs, which was very tasty. Food was good and they also have other specials which I will try next time I visit Arcos de Valdevez, but I will do a reservation first so I don't get surprises.
