Having traveled through the Iberian peninsula for over 6 months and several years, my wife and I had, arguably our best seafood meal ever. Filled with local families, many of whom seemed to know each other, Menau serves seafood only. The seafood is brought up fresh every day from the Algarve, where the family lives. Being a Sunday, the kids were here. The family who run the restaurant was warm and welcoming. From the suggested Alentejo white wine to the tiny clams in garlic and the grilled sardines, we were in gourmand heaven. Our hostess’ English was excellent. She treated us warmly and ensured we had what we needed. At the end, she treated us to a digestif from the Algarve. Menau is worth a stop if you come to Beja.
