Hotel Santa Bárbara - Beja — Hotel in Beja

When I put the hotel's address into the satnav it told me there were 2 places with that name. So we phoned the hotel. A man answered and just said that neither was the right location. About 5 minutes later a lady called us back and told us just to head for the town centre. When we arrived, we stopped to take our bearings and she called again asking where we were. She then came in her car and led us back to the hotel. How's that for service. We had a room at the front but it was a quiet street so no problem. We stayed just one night in Beja and found this hotel by chance. It is charming. The hotel was spotless and our room basic but comfortable and clean. The receptionist was welcoming and helpful. We thought the room was very good value and the breakfast just tip top. It was a buffet with plenty of fresh, local produce. Situated in the old part it has comfortable rooms with aircon and ours had a balcony which was big enough to sit on. Both room and bathroom were on the small side but not so much so that one felt cramped although the shower required a degree of agility to use satisfactorily.||||Breakfast was fine and the people running the place very helpful providing maps and timetables of buses to surrounding places...
