Dom José — Restaurant in Bombarral

It's probably the best restaurant in the region for Portuguese food. It's definitely one of my favourite places in the area. The only problem is the difficulty of booking a table. Most of the times you need to book with several days advance. The place is very unexpected, if you come a first time. It looks like a residential villa in a residential area. But inside, it's nice enough, not something too fancy, but I would say it's comfortable. Usually, there is no table rotation, meaning you seat and have your meal without stress. I stayed at Artvilla in Cadaval when Maria recommended we try Dom Jose for a nice dinner. After reservations were made and quick refresh in our room, I drove down the road to find a very friendly family run restaurant. The owners - a brother and sister team were gracious hosts. The menu was available in English. The octopus was a delight. My mother who accompanied us on this trip had lamb and my wife had the risotto. All were excellent meals. I started with the Apple Tart! Fantastic family run Michelin rated place near the bus station in Bombarral. We stopped here for lunch on the way to Buddha Eden Garden and had the pork and the beef both of which were great. The beef almost melted in your mouth and the pork had a wonderful smoky flavour as though it has been barbecued. We had the biscuit cake for dessert which I would thoroughly recommend. Customer service was great, attentive without being overbearing. I will definitely return if in the area.
