Agua Na Boca — Restaurant in Calheta

It was very nice and sunny afternoon when we tired to find some place for family dinner but amongst main Calheta restaurants area everything was occupied. We almost lost hope but the first principle on Madeira and Macaronesia too is - 'never lose your hope'. Finally we found this fantastic place and loved it for the first sight! Nice service! Tasty food! Very, very tasty food! And this 'inner climate' which is hard to decribe. But if it isn't possible to decribe this by words - just go there, sit around the very clean table and order something which you will find on their rich menu card! I strongly reccomending 'The dish of the day' - hughe portions, fresh ingredients and what's more - final price which you wouldn't find anywhere else! We definitely didn't find a crazier restaurant during our stay in Madeira. We chose a truly local spot frequented mostly by Madeiran residents, not tourists. It's a small place on a steep hill with difficult parking. They serve a daily special, and we were offered only two options. The food was tasty, but the portions were incredible. My partner ordered a large portion, and I got a small. Always opt for the small size, as it’s enough for two people, while the large portion could feed three to four. We were shocked by the amount of food; it was impossible to finish. We felt bad wasting food, but it was good and reasonably priced. If you want to try authentic local cuisine, definitely visit this restaurant, but be prepared for the huge portions. It's worth it...

This is a great place with very tasty food and great service. One of the best bolo do caco on the island as well as huge portions of the main course. We ordered the tuna steak for two and they served us 3 more side dishes to go with it. We were so full! The nice lady who served us wrapped everything up for us as we couldn't eat it all.
