Pizzeria Naye — Restaurant in Calheta

During our 5 week stay in Calheta, we had pizza from this spot at least once a week. Both take out and dine in.

The pizza dough is well made and tasty. Because the crust is thin, I was able to eat an entire pizza to myself without feeling bloated afterwards. The ingredients are fresh and there are a variety of options for you to choose from.

The staff were prompt and friendly. There was always at least one English speaking staff on duty. Service was fast (less than 10 minutes to cook my take out pizza, when the restaurant was not crowded though).

If you are dining-in and have young children, there is a very simple play room inside with random toys and a play house. Our little guy really enjoyed it but don't expect too much!

Parking is limited to 5 spots so be prepare to have to park further down the road if you arrive at...

Unfortunately I don't understand why so many good reviews, but maybe we were just unlucky. After reading the pasta menu, we rejected them immediately - in pasta carbonara coriander, onion and ham? Really? So we chose a pizza that everyone praises here in comments and it was also a failure - not only that the Quattro formaggi did not contain the cheeses listed in the menu, but why prepare this pizza with cheddar? The second pizza with chicken was not bad but in sugo was a spice resembling curry or something like that. Whyyy?

One star is for the staff - and only for one nice waitress, the other young lady was obviously very bored and and one for the pizza dough, that was also quitte nice. But I would...

The place itself is actually nice ... but I normally go to a restaurant for the food not because it looks good... now I choose this place because of the reviews... when I had a look at the menu I thought the pizza must be really good if it costs 13euros which is very expensive for this part of Madeira... anyway I would have been more than happy to pay 13 euros if the pizza would have been worth it... unfortunately the pizza bread was raw at the bottom... I had a lot of pizzas and this is the first time ever that the pizza bread was raw there...
